Default 1990 Accord transmission prob

I was driving down the road about sixty, and the rpms jumped way up. You can shift the trans into 1st gear manually and into second gear, but not into third or OD. I was having a problem with the car going from part to drive, I think there is a switch under the break pedal that might be bad. Now there is a clicking sound when I start the car even in park sounds like some sort of switch going on and off. Not sure any help would be great. thanks

I'd say that your TCU is shot

The clicking you are hearing when in Park is the shift interlock solenoid. This prevents shifting the car into gear directly from Park without pressing the brake pedal. This is normal.

If you have an empty road, or freeway onramp, trying flooring the car and seeing if it will upsfhift from 2nd to 3rd. If it acts normally when you floor it, more than likely the TPS has gone bad.

Read through this link http://techauto.awardspace.com/transmission.html
It should get you heading in the right direction.

thank you for the advice i will try speeding up fast and see if it shifts, i want to try and figure out for sure what is wrong with the trans first and then I will change the solenoid. I have changed the TCU once but that does not mean it is not bad it was rebuild. And the clicking is constant not the one click to release. Again thank you for your time, I will post what i find.

Thank You

I went to the link and it said to take the fuse out and clear the tcu and i did. it said that if it ran right after that, the the TCU is more than likely bad so I took out the fuse for a little while and it is running fine now. So the rebuilt TCU is probably junk. Bought it off of ebay we will see if they stand behind it or not, thank you very much for the help.

I had this same issued and nailed it. Swap out my tranny oil, did a completed flush and replacememnt. There is a great utube vid. its great DIY project. Clean out the cylenoid packs top & bottom, removed them and check them directly to the battery, one of them needed replacing cuz it was clicking weak. Swap out TCU with one from the JK (five finger discount, of course). This job was done last year and my 92coupe is running great.
