Tach Dropped to Zero, then 91 Accord won't start
Alright so I have a 91 Accord with 215xxx on it. I pulled into work yesterday after it was driving just fine and the tach dropped to zero. BUT the car was still running and idling just fine...I shut it off and tried to start it up again but to no avail. I just replaced the spark plugs and wires 2k ago.
Anyone have this problem before? How can I test the distributor? Also i'm sure it could use a new fuel filter, but would that cause this? Thanks!

I've had it happen to me before, same symptoms. Plug popped out of the alternator, plugged it back in, jumped the car and it ran fine. Never popped out again.
Huh. I'll check that. I unscrewed the banjo bolt a bit that goes into the fuel rail and turned the car on. Fuel came out so we're looking at a spark issue.
Took the distributor cap off, there was some white residue inside and a bit of oil on the outside bottom part of the cap. So i'm jumping it right now and seeing after a cleaning if that was it and if that's what i should replace!
