Default 07 Civic Si clutch pedal spring replacement

So my civic is plagued by the typical Honda clutch pedal "popping" and "creaking"... My clutch master cylinder has already been replaced by Honda. today I narrowed it down to the spring assist on the clutch pedal. There is a lot of play in the spring where it attaches to the assembly bushings, and that's the popping it makes when it rubs... I also noticed there was a broken plastic piece near where it attaches that just fell off when I touched it with a screw driver (I'm assuming it had something to do with stabilizing the spring), but I didn't see the rest of the plastic piece, so I'm not 100% sure what it did. What broke???

My question is, if I buy a new spring, are they easy to swap out? And what plastic piece should I order along with it? For those of you who are pretty familiar with the clutch pedal assembly on these civics... Thanks

I had an issue with my toyota tacoma and to repair that plastic you needed to remove that bracket, put it in a vice and take it apart.

I would try to get a look at a honda service manual to see just what needs to be removed to get at it, to me it doesn't look like there is much to removing it.
