Jotech Motorsports ran an 8.62 at 161 mph.
Just wanted to let you guys know how the NHRA race in Englishtown went. First off, let me say, it was an awesome weekend of racing! The track was prepped really good and the air was great. The number 5 qualifier in the hot rod class was Jojo with an 8.89! It was a really quick field. We ran an 8.75, 8.72, 8.62, and 8.81 @ 137mph. On the 8.81 the motor let go at about the 1000ft. mark and coasted to an 8.81. Later inspection showed a wristpin broke and caused many other parts to break including a rod that damn near chopped the engine in half! The times on this pass up to the 1000ft. mark were quicker than our 8.62 and would've been an 8.50. Venom ran a couple 8.70's and an 8.65. The sunfire ran a couple 8.70's as well. The new guy on the block, HP Racing, ran a couple 8.70's and an 8.59! That car is running great and it's one to watch! The finals came down to us and venom. We handed venom the win when our turbo gave out. Right out of the hole there was no boost. After the run we looked at everything and the compressor wheel had grabbed the housing due to a worn shaft and bearings. We had them on the lights with a .484 reaction to their .508. That's racing! Every class ran good. Both of the Bullish cars went 6.90's and the turbonetics celica went 6.89 at 203mph!! I think steph went 8.13 or something which is his best in this car I think. There was also a street supra that went 9.59 on street tires and 8.50 on slicks!! It was probably the best weekend of racing this year and anyone who missed it really missed out. The finals are in Pomona in a few weeks and anyone who can come out really should. Everyone pulls out all the stops for the finals and it should be really exciting!
We were watching you on the net and were hoping for a good final round number to give you the record as well as the win.
When the engine let go, did you change turbos also at that time or use the same turbo with the new motor? Any chance particles got into the turbo to cause it's demise also? Did your new boost control work as expected?

Yeah, it was the same turbo that was on when the motor blew and i'm pretty sure that had something to do with it. We noticed a little oil in it on the previous passes but didn't have another turbo to replace it with. All we could do is run it and see how it went. The boost controller...I guess you could say it worked! We finally have full control of boost rather than full boost all the time. The wheelie bars worked very well too. The car went straighter than it ever has and we cut a 1.38 60ft!
Hahhahah i still remember when the domestic guys said that hondas will never surpase the 10sec range...now look at us....10 all motor and 8 sec turbo cars....

Honestly, I don't see much of a difference between a 9 and 10" tire. I think the suspension setup as a whole has a much greater effect on traction.
The distributor isn't as accurate as the setup we run. Our setup is much safer when you're really leaning on the motor hard. It can be done on a dist. though.

Tony, did the car hit better times because of the new wheelie bars that u made? Or did yall do a different set up from the last event? A BIG congrats, by the way.
