Not sure about the rev limiter, but vtec should not work until the motor's warmed up. Who doesn't let their car warm up?

I had 2 different, stock OBD0 PR3 ecus. One allowed vtec to engage at 4400 rpms and rev to 7800 rpms. The other allowed vtec to engage at 5200 rpms and rev to 8000 rpms. There's definitely some variations in stock ecus.

4400 rpm vtec isn't stock, had to be chipped. Sometimes they solder the chip to the board, so it doesn't appear modified.
Does your CEL work? Is it on? Is the car at operating temp?
Also, your tach might be off. You could be revving past 7000 but it's not accurate. Since you tried 2 other ecus, you should try another tach.
Edit- just realized this the same car you had 'no power' issues from sitting for 7 years. Have you replaced all the filters and done a tune up? New timing belt is a good idea too...

False.

You obviously have fueling or timing issues.

well i have a tach and the factory tach and my vafc and its not running out of fuel or timming it hitting the rev limiter and its at 7000. an i was asking because it eaither has a realy low temp thermostat in it of no thermostat it never gets warm.im going to change it now but i was wanting to know if the ecu could keep it from reving all the way if the temp gauge says its cold. and yes the cel works and no theres no codes in it.

Nope, no chip. Vtec engagement at 4400 under full throttle, 5200 light throttle, 7800 rpm rev limit, and around a 110 mph speed limiter. PR3 ecu sourced from an 89 CRX SIR B16A.

Op, are you sure your temp gauge is working correctly? Even with no thermostat, after 20 minutes of idling, the car should warm up. Unless you're in some seriously cold weather...

where did you get those numbers?
its no where near what my ecu is throwing...and mine is a JDM pr3-j00 obd1 B16A.
rev limit at 8200, vtec at 4800. AND i certainly dont have a speed limiter. since i was running an accord and let off around 125

well its like 18F. right now and the ecu in it is a PW0 that been chipped by vision in japan.IDK the guy i bought it from said it has no rev limiter in the ecu and was set on the msd but the msd is set at 9k but it hit the rev limiter at 7k.and the vtec comes on at 5800 because of my vafc.

That's the point I'm trying to make here, that even in stock form, there's variations with ecus.

I just remembered that I also borrowed a friend's OBD0 PR3 ecu one time and it had a vtec engagement of 5k rpm and rev limt at 8200 rpm.

iv got a 'stock' non obd b16 and my fuel cuts at 120. i can hit vtec while its cold (not that im trying to) and vtec kicks around 4500-4800 and fuel cuts again right around 8000 rpm

but to get back to the point of this thread. i dont think your ecu is causing any trouble. hows your fuel pressure, timing? leaking copious amounts of oil? any cel light? after market parts on your fuel system?

Op, also since you're dabbling in the world of ecu trickery with that vafc, your problem could very well have to do with your settings. I'd pawn that thing off on some n00b and get a real tune, but that's just me.

well its fixed is was the fact that the temp sensor was telling the ecu that it was to cold and it lowerd the rev limiter to 7k.ok the othr thing is im a ase master tech and have never seen one befor but the thermostat that came out was adjustable with a little flat head.eaither way the car dynoed 158whp with olmost a stock motor so im guessing that my little vafc is working just fine.but its pullin hard to 8500 now dont want to push it past that.thanks for all the help guys

Good deal!

I'm curious what it would've laid down with proper tuning though.
