Default E Brake light always on

My E Brake light is staying on all the time. I thought it might be my alarm causing it so I cut the feed to the alarm and it still is on. I need ideas of where to start? This was working just fine and one day started doing this

Check your brake fluid.

Not trying to make you feel dumb but it means you have a leak somewhere. Check all your brake lines in front, under the master cylinder or in the car where the brake rod connects, and both back brake cylinders if it has drums.

well...if its the EMERGENCY brake light, then that should have nothing to do with the actual brake system on the car correct? the ground wire that goes to the ebrake itself is probably damaged/disconnected. i would check that first

the fluid level sensor and the hand-brake are on the same light, so either one would trigger it. in his case he was low on fluid.

It's extremely unlikely he has a leak. The fluid level goes down naturally as the brake pads wear.

OP should have his brakes checked; at least one wheel will be close to the steel.

look at the lines look at the black rubber. make sure u wipe it clean. so u can see if brake fluid is leaking out. i had the same problem. the black rubber had a slit ended up replacing a line.
