2000 Lude PM, vtec, dizzy o-ring
Guys,
In preparation for my ultimate dyno tune, my Tuner recommended I replace the vtec gasket/o-ring set, distributor o-ring and cam plug(s) as they look like they're beginning to weep. No wet spots at 115k miles, just weeping. I'm also going to have the valve lash checked and adjusted as required and will install a new Honda v-cover gasket set.
I have the Factory Service Manual for the car. I'm a wrench in my own right, (Aviation mechanic).
My questions are, what am I up against? I've had the distributor out before. Cake.
Vtec solenoid removal doesn't look too difficult and the mechanic doing the valve lash will do the cover gasket re-install.
Cam Plugs? What's the best way to remove and replace them?
I'm trying to cut down on some of the expense of time and materials prior going to the dyno.
Where can I get the best prices on the parts I need? And can anyone give me any tips that might be helpful during this preventative maintenance?
Thanks, V1

If they arent leaking dont waste your time. Just hang on to the parts in case they start leaking. All of those parts are super easy to change out. Just read your manual
Yeah. Kind of what I was thinking. Tuner is a little overly precautious, plus it puts ching in his pocket when I can do it for 30% of his cost.
May just clean surrounding area with 2+2 make it all look nice and clean and send it in for the dyno.
I've got the first task of installing the header, cat and 2.5 pipe to the muffler though prior to OBDI tuning on the dyno. I'm going to custom mount the OBDI on the tray next to the OBDII so it's all plug and play when smog test time comes around. I'm plugging the OBDII back in tonight until I can have the OBDI base map tuned, probably right after the holidays.

Cam plug is very easy. You can either pop it out and massage the new one in, or remove the valve cover gasket, then the four bolts that hold the cam cap on and R&R the plug
