Icon2 So who is the MOST "RESPECTED" motor/engine building on the west coast?

I'm relatively new to the motor scene and was thinking of doing a full built motor for my s2000.

The name Endyn comes up and after talking with one of their techs, he told me they do a lot of engine builds and is currently doing something for one of Mr. Honda's sons.

I want to bulletproof a F22C1 motor and perhaps lower the compression slightly so we can do more boost from our SOS supercharger system.

Since I'm in San Jose, CA ~ just thinking are there any reputable motor shops local?

Endyn is in Forth Worth, TX

chime in fellas!

Lackey racing is arguably the best engine builder on the west coast. I would go with them for sure

laskey gets my vote as well... but this being a honda, my guess is the kid makes 19k a year and is making his list of stuff he will get next week, or next month.. or whenever this dream dies...

what do you mean by "very very high hp?" the most ive seen out of an all-motor set-up is about 320

thanks guys, I will give Laskey a call first since he is closer. I wanted to give Endyn a shot but those guys are a bit too far away and they seem super busy with work already. Still waiting for the quote for them

I am not doing NA motor - already have a SOS charger on there running about 10 lbs of boost - we can safely do about 400 rwhp so my goal is to fortify the motor and run maybe 460-480 rwhp eventually

When I do things I just like to know in the back of my mind everything is rock solid and reliable.

In case you guys have not seen, this is my engine bay right before the rebuilt - it has nothing but the BEST parts on the car from interior to exterior as this is my final s2000 build.

You could give John Grudynski @ Hytech a call. He's built engines for Grand-Am Cup racers and i've seen a couple high hp N/A applications from them. He has N/A cams for the s2k but i'm not sure about supercharger profiles. Also makes supercharger specific headers.

Where is he / Hytek located?

Just curious guys but my motor seems to be showing very LOW oil pressure at idle once the engine warms up.

At cold startup - it reads 200 KpA but then after the engine warms up it's nearly showing 0 oil pressure causing my DEFI oil pressure meter alarm to go off.

Once the car gets moving oil pressure returns to normal?

oil level check out fine? only time i've heard of oil pressure dropping nearly to 0 was when i was a quart or two low and spun a bearing.

Laskey. Nothing but good things.

You're at less than 400whp and want a fully built motor? I have over 500 and that is the last thing I'm looking to upgrade. TBH these motors are stout. I'd look into a rear diff upgrade and trans upgrade before "fully building" your motor. Chances are your rear end would grenade first.

I went with Mike Laskey a few years back. So far, bulletproof performance running over 500 rwhp. He should be known as Mister Reliable.

When the car is cold, the oil is thicker, thus it reads higher. At idle it's probably somewhere in the 10-17psi range and then at 3k it should max out at 70 or so. These are all rough figures off the top of my head. The pump builds pressure the faster the motor turns until it hits x PSi when the bypass spring opens and bleeds excess pressure off.

On a side note, people run 500whp on stock blocks pretty regularly, so I'm not sure you really need to "build" the motor.

Why would you want to take it to Endyn? I'd avoid that if I were you. Not worth the risk.

What are your power goals? Definitely recognize you from s2ki and nsxprime as well.
They have been numerous reliable builds in the 450-550 whp range for the S2000 motor. Unless you really have HIGH horsepower aspirations, you really don't need to crack that motor open for much if anything.

Plus, lowering your compression may seem safer, but your normal commutes may seem more sluggish with less lower RPM power.
