ex b16a2 swap - codes 14, 54, and 70
Hey guys. I just installed a 99 b16a2 into a friend's 98 civic ex coupe. I used the ex harness but I had to unused plugs. One was by the fuel injector wires which I figured out was for the emissions thing bolted to the fuel rail. Now I have a three wire plug hanging right above the oil filter.
Now I check the CEL and of course it threw the Crank angle sensor no input code. Naturally, Nothing was plugged into it. Now am I supposed to extend two wires from the three wire plug for the two wire CKF? if so, which colored ones? We're using the ecu that came with the swap and I doubt he'd want to do the whole OBD2-0bd1 harness with a p28...
Also, I took it for a spin and if I was easy on it, it accelerated with no problem. If I mashed it, it bogged down and didn't want to move. I was thinking map sensor but could this fix that too?
I know there's also a bypass trick but that's if nothing else will work.
Thanks.

I was in a hurry so I didn't get the exact number for the code but I got the code for Crank position sensor no input.

Code 70 is an automatic transmission malfunction code. What ECU do you have?
Reset the ECU to see whether all three codes repeat. The ECU reset is done by removing the 7.5A hood Back Up fuse for at least 3 minutes.

He ordered this full swap from ebay so I'm not sure about if the ECU is for an auto. No, it's definitely a manual transmission and so was his old D16y8.
Yes, wrong ECU for the swap. That's the cause of code 14 and 70.
When he gets the right ECU, he'll also need an OBD2a-OBD2b conversion harness.
Code 54 may just be a wire problem or the CKF is unplugged. You need to remove the crank pulley to check it.

I wouldn't have to run a different dizzy or injectors for the chipped OBD1 ecu? I've never had to use a conversion harness before.
