I am at work and don't have time to search so I apologize if this has already been discussed.
I drove my car to work yesterday with 0 issues, then when I came out that night to go home I put the key in the ignition and everything came on as normal (radio, lights, gauges etc) however it did not crank. There is no clicking noise or anything. I am thinking the starter, any other thoughts? I tapped on the starter and that didn't help either ( the round part, not the solenoid). Any thoughts on what it might be? I really need to get this fixed, my girl doesn't like me borrowing her car lol.
Thanks!

yea it's parked in a parking spot facing the curb down a hill lol. I will see if I can push it out and get onto level ground. What's wierd about the whole thing is it just stopped working suddenly... don't starters normally go out over time? I mean it has worked flawlessly for 2 years...
Thanks
Thanks
did you ever think that it could be the battery? just because the lights and radio come on doesn't mean you can rule out the battery. I am banking on that. Try replacing it first and if it doesn't work then we can go from there.

I wish that was it Monkey, I checked that last night it was plugged it solid as it should be
I am going to test it with a multimeter after work to make sure it's getting the proper 12 volts, if it is, then I think it actually might be my viper alarm acting a fool lol. Thanks for the input!

check and clean your motor grounds this will cause the starter not to get enough power to turn over. also check you 40 and 80 amp fuse for the ignition and battery if one blows u wont get any power either. its located under the hood

Thanks for the input!but you're on the right track. check for voltage at soleniod, and trace the wire back to find what's breaking the circuit.. with it being so sudden, i'd lean on it being the alarm as well. good luck brosef
I am just stating that ruling out the battery would be the first thing I would do. It is also the easiest to rule out. Why couldn't it be the battery? The battery could have enough power to keep on lights and the radio but not enough to start the car. This happened to me twice and it was the battery both times.
Main relay could have failed too do you here the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on......Good luck I'd also check the alarm they always seem to screw up peoples cars
My car would occasionally do this as well. Foot depressing the clutch, key in, turn, then nothing but pretty lights on the dash and good music. I'd have to depress the clutch pedal a few times or simply wait.
Although I never fixed my issue due to work being done on the car, I was advised to check the rubber gromet/stopper on top of the clutch pedal for deterioration, and check the clutch switch that the gromet/stopper releases when the clutch is pressed. Get under there, you'll see what I'm talking about. For a short and dirty test, I bypassed clutch switch (don't ask me how to do this) and kept it like that for month or so and never had any startup issues at that time. So it's my belief that my problem is clutch switch. So....you may want to start where I did. Good luck!
