What crx sohc engine did I receive?
Hi,
I purchased a soch zc engine but this thing looks very different from what's currently in my car
I have both engines out already
Main difference is the valve cover only, really has me concerned because there is so many different zc engines and I only ordered a long block so no other identifying accessories are on it
I wanted a 1.6 non vtec sohc zc for my 91 crx
It looks like this one;

and mine has the regular a6 valve cover
there is no vtec solenoid on it
the crank pulley has holes in it, for lightening I assume
It has an external fuel pump on the back of the head!
I know that valve cover is from a d15b
but the block is stamped sohc zc
Do I have a 1.5 sohc zc?

I have to swap my manifold onto it so all I need is the block and head to be the same
I did lots of research, I just block off the pump
I think there's just different versions but I'm hoping they're all the same
http://www.honda.co.jp/factbook/auto.../co88-018.html
both blocks and head are the same...i think the carb'd version has a different cam but all parts from a d16a6 are interchangable on both blocks...!!!
the 2nd pic is not the engine just a example of what's there
it has carb pump but the valve cover is exactly the same as in the 1st picture
That valve cover is also on d15b's
But I'm certain sohc zc do not come in a 1.5 liter

Wait, if you scroll a bit down more in that link I posted, the carb'd cam is the most aggressive?
So I should keep that cam in there.
I don't understand those numbers in the list you posted

It's called a Mechanical Fuel Pump... there is a lobe on the camshaft that it is driven off of. Similar to practically all Caburated Domestics / V8's from the mid-80's and earlier.
this is D16A6, D16B2 and D16B6 cam specs:

this is the carbed cam specs:
Treat it like a sore dick, don't f@ck with it!!!
I used to import these motors and sell them as factory replacement engines. We sold ours with the blockoff plate but they are the same basic engines. You will not gain anything by swapping cams only the liability that you put it together instead of Honda.
Bolt up all of your parts and you are done.
Also all zc blocks are 1.6

Ithink I have a carb zc cam in mine already
I only need to know ONE thing.
Are the cams between single car zc and dual carb zc the same or different.
Would really help for a quick answer please.
Thanks

I would say don't mess with it if it anit broken but that is just me, think of it this way are you willing to sacrifice the reliability of the motor that you just bought for a potential few HP gain it doesn't seem worth it.
