Another ITR rebuild: 1999-050
whats up ht, long time member and honda junkie here, havent had a honda on the road in a long time, i had an ej back in 06 that was stolen. I eventually bought a house etc. and was slowly building a DC at home when in late august i got a call from my good friend and fellow ht member that an ITR was for sale one province over from us in Ontario for a stupid low $2500?!?!
I couldnt believe it so i checked the ad myself and sure enough 1999-050 was for sale with 235xxx kms on it and a blown tranny, but it had a clean title and it wasnt a salvage vehicle. I was shocked it was for sale for such a cheap price i immediately called the seller and he said "yes its $2500 but i just sold it 5 mins ago." He then said the ad was up for less than an hour and that the buyer would be by the following day to pick it up.
Not wanting to let this chance go i asked him if he was would take $3000 and i would be at his door at 8am the next day and to my surprise he said yes! Later that night he tried calling me twice and i actually didnt answer thinking that he was going to do the same thing to me lol, and our last talk was "see ya in the mornin!" and with a 4 hour drive between us i figured he wouldnt sell it on me before letting me know first.
Well to sum it up i trailered her home and upon checking the tranny, to my disbelief, the last owner ran the tranny completely dry! I guess thats par for the course considering the owner sold it for 3k, he obviously didnt know what he had. Really nice guy, but not versed in hondas. Plans arent anything too crazy, just restore it, throw my jdm front end on i have laying around and rebuild the motor, repaint it, rework the suspension slightly.
I havent diagnosed the tranny problem yet as its winter here where i live and i have stored her for the winter, ive been buying parts and am planning on getting the car back on the road for summer 2012.
it came with some stuff i will keep like tein hood dampers, personal steering wheel with nrg quick release, s2 **** and short shifter, AEM 3" cai, hids

Aw man great pick up! I guess I fail to realize how bad dealing with road salt can actually be sometimes. No need for that stuff here in the deep south. I know you're looking forward to next summer. GL

Car is stored for the winter, so i cant take any more pics till sometime in the spring, its a standard itr interior, just stupidly filthy. the motor runs fine, but needs major rebuilding, it looks like its never been regularly maintenanced and taken care of, it feels to me like the car is finally with an owner that fully knows and appreciates the car for what it is.
to everyone else thanks for the all the positive comments! ill get this R back to its original glory, plus a jdm front end and some extras lol

This was originally my friends ITR, he bought it out in Calgary. Ended up trading it to another one of my friends for an R32. My buddy that had the ITR ended up selling it for about $6000, which is when it went North, and eventually sold to a guy in Ontario.
Cook thanks for the info! This car needed so much work and I'm still not out of the water. Swifty did my rebuild but the assembler either didn't torque the head properly or the head gasket was faulty but I only got 300 kms on it before the head gasket blew.
I towed it to j's garage this past weekend and he's going to do the head gasket and I picked up a complete ac system that he's going to put in also, because it was taken out and I want it back lol.
Hopefully it runs properly after this, I've put so much time and money in it, it was really treated bad by the last owner unfortunately.
