dame way on all h and f motors. if you remove the upper timing belt cover there is an arrow that points up. make sure it is pointed up and that the two lines at the 3 and 9 o clock position are aligned with the top of the head. this is the best way.

you can also find it by using a long screwdriver in the #1 spark plug hole(first remove spark plug). rotate the engine. when the screwdriver is at its highest point the #1 cyl is at tdc
