Default low budget mods for 2.2vtec?

Just curious what is the best bang for the bucks..... Obvious firsts are:

Cold air intake

What other bolt ons do this motor justice?

Which 2.2 are you referring? One of the 'mods' would be replacing the Accord transmission with a Prelude transmission that has lower gears for better acceleration.

It's just like building half a Chevy, but with better quality.

No need for a cam gear on these SOHC engines. Most aftermarket cams are designed to work within the stock cam timing ranges. Whether or not you need an ECU (Computer) tune will depend on the camshaft you buy. Also whether or not you do any other intake, valve train or fuel upgrades.

Just like with building a Chevy, adding power doesn't come cheap and most of the cheap parts aren't all that reliable.

Ya... Im seeing about 350 for cam and then most likely would need diff. Springs. So a 15-20 percent increase for about $600.... Thats a mid cam as i dont see a 4cyl doing well with a lopey idle

Whether or not you want to be that guy at the red light with a lopey idle Honda is the real question. They can be street-able when tuned properly. They just don't have that V8 lope to them. Although I have heard some pretty sweet sounding, all out, all motor I4 Honda engines.

Really depends on what you are looking for. if your not out to make up for some inadequacies. These can be pretty fun cars to play around with. However, if you are looking to prop up your manhood within a 1/4" of throttle. Stick with the V8s.

I bought the car for work as 30mpg is great when driving 3k miles a month. But like anyone else i like to have some fun too. I do like the feel of the vtec kickin in and leaving people 4 car lengths back.

Always liked sleepers. Flashy car reving their coffee can muffler, light turns green and i leave them dusted!

The transmission change, unless you keep the Accord 5th gear(MT), will kill the mileage. It's fun dusting fools with the B1 and lower gear ratios but it doesn't have the top end of a H22(Prelude) engine. Cruising rpm will go from ~2700 to ~3000 on the highways. Its fun at the stoplights.
