Default AWD-T???

Hey there HT! This isn't really itr related so mods feel free to lock it up but Im thinking about picking up a RDX for the old lady and I. Winter is here and its getting hard sharing the Civic with her cause the R is in hibernation. We both like the Rdx and it fits in our budget. It has lots of room for kids(someday) and it also comes AWD-T. I wouldn't mind getting another R or sti/evo(awd-t) but then again she wants a suv. I Honestly haven't test drove one yet and Im not sure what to expect? I was wondering if anyone can give me some basic info on the suv as fas as performance, fuel economy, problems, ect. I hear that they don't do so good on gas but they handle good and do have a decent amount of power with decent room overal. The main thing is, are they worth the money? I would really appreciate all the info I can get. Thanks

Quite honestly, I'd save the cash and get a CRV instead ('10+). The RDX is nice, but it'll suck through the gas like crazy and you have to run premium in it.

The CRV will also hold resale much better. No, the CRV isn't as fast nor does it handle quite as well, but it is still a nice package.

As well, once you add a kid or two, space will be cramped in either. Wife had a CRV for kid #1, but as soon as #2 arrived, we upgraded to a Pilot as the CRV was just waaay too small. You'll run into the same problem with the RDX.

The Pilot gets about the same mileage as the RDX, too.

Just depends upon your long term goals.

+1 for that. If you don't see yourself needing lots of room or needing to tow anything down the road then go for a CRV. (Unless you really want something a bit more luxurious)

But if you plan on having a family then i'd think about getting something larger. My wife and i just went through that having had a '10 Fit at first but ran out of room once we had our first child. We upgraded to a 4wd Pilot and we've been happy ever since. Except for the mpg...

I looked and drove the crv and pilot before. VERY will put together But they serious lacks luxury! I would rather get the pilot cause it has more room and power then the crv. The Rdx in the other hand has what I like. POWER (Awd-Turbo), Room, LOOKS, Luxurious! Right now im looking @ a couple but they haven't really caught my eye enough to go down and test drive one. I do like the Lexus Gx 470 but they are such a gas hog. I appreciate all the info. Thanks

I loved the RDX the minute I stepped out from the test drive. There are a few flaws here and there that I've gotten used to. I've had mine since '07 with 54 miles on the odometer when I took delivery of it. I now have 101xxx on it. I look back and wished I would have gotten the tech package, but couldn't justify the extra $6000 at the time. I didn't really need the navigation at the time, so I passed it up.

You'll definitely want a roof rack and maybe the roof box if you travel alot. The trunk can only handle 2 golf bags and two push carts. I can stuff 4 golf bags but the cargo lid has to come off. Good thing about that is it can be flipped with plastic side up on the trunk floor. Trunk cargo space is what I dislike the most when the rear seats aren't down. And on the '07 model, the front passenger seat is not powered, which is lame on Honda's part.

Like any 5-passenger vehicle, if you have 1 or 2 car seats, you'll be limited. The CRV is under-powered and pokey, so if you're like me and like response, the RDX is for you. Throttle response is a little slow in 1st-2nd gear, whether you're shifting via paddles or not, it's slow. But once you get to 2500 and the turbo spools, going from gear to gear isn't bad for a mid-sized SUV.

Once in a while, if you use the auxilary port and the charger port in the same device, you'll notice some noise coming from your device into the speakers. I've tried different aux cables, but it doesn't happen all the time.

Oil filter location is a mess, you have to be careful and slow taking it out otherwise you'll splash yourself with dirty oil. Spark plugs aren't easy to get at because you have to remove the top-mount intercooler. A few things but you'll get used to it if you decide to get it.

Otherwise, handling is superb, especially with the factory Michelin Pilot tires. Though, Blizzaks will be best for winter. Hope this helps.

My wife has one and she LOVES IT!..

I have an 00 py itr,05 sti, 04 s2000,07 turbo s2000 and 08 s2000 right now and my truck and 90% of the time we take her RDX.

I plan on making a cat delete downpipe and hondata reflash at some point.

Make sure you get the tech package. Better sounds and ammenities all around. We have had hers for 15k miles and its been nice, average about 23-25 mpg with her driving.

I dis like the crv and pilot as they are not as nice inside. We only have us and a dog and there is plenty of room for our luggage and stuff when we take trips.

Thanks guys for the great feed back. Im looking into some right now! Haven't came across the right one so me and the old lady are taking our time. I have taken a couple out for test drives and I do like them a lot. There's plenty of power once boost kicks in but I was expecting more. Decent room around but not as much in the rear seats like I expected either. I do like the trunk space and how you can fold down the sits for more space also. It handles very nice on the highway and turns too. Really I like the luxury feel and the tech package is a must like you all said. We're going to Seattle in a couple of weeks so probably and maybe I can find the right one there. Thanks again for the info.
