Default 96-97 ITR header?

Ok guys so I got my jdm b18c type r 96-97 spec but I was wondering if I should keep the 4-2-1 header that came with it the stock oem header cast manifold..I heard it was alright but.not as better as the 98 spec header 4-1 tubular stainless one. which ill get if I end up selling the one that came off my 96-97 one ... Should I keep mine or end up selling it to get.different one?? Thanks will appericate your help.

good idea! spend $300 to make virtually the same power and save a couple lbs

the 96-97 piece makes good power and is probably the most under appreciated honda part out there. it has no bling when is why they get sold for $120 all the time.

So the 96-97 4-2-1 header makes the same power as the 4-1 header?
My plan was end up selling the 96-97 spec 4-2-1 header & buy the 98 spec 4-1 for $150 from local guy in twn,but if both make same power there is no point.

if you can get a real 98+ 4-1 for $150 the guy is an idiot and jump on it. they fetch $250ish on ebay all day. you can get 100-150 out of your 96-97 header and save a few pounds and get a slightly better torque curve.

there's a test of the 96 vs 98 motor on youtube, both make 200hp and the only difference is the 98+ has literally like 2lb more torque in a narrow band

Base on he fact that both make the same HP, it make sense to me that you keep the stock cast iron header. Why?
1. Save yourself the hassle of swaping the old one out.
2. Save yourself the hassle of selling the old one.
3. Don't have to worry about denting the bottom of the header.
4. And if KS has laws like CA, you don't have to worry about getting pull over by the law enforceman for having none stock header.

The stainless 4-1 is that aftermarket, ebay one or brand?

As far as I know 4-1 have higher numbers in the upper rpm range, 4-2-1 I think bring more power to 3k rpm range.

Well he's selling the header originally for $400 on craigslists & since no one has money I offered him $150 which he said yes to jst matter of me selling the 96-97 header.

But yeah the laws here in KS are different haven't heard of getting lulled over if dnt have stock header

I'm thinking tho I might go ahead & selling the 96-97 header before swap the ITR swap in my integra & get the 98 spec

no, that's just you assuming. the dyno says otherwise on this engine with those headers. the 4-1 actually has a slightly better torque curve. identical other than that

you positive it's a real jdm 4-1? if you had pics i could tell you in a second. the heat shield is one giveaway, construction and the flange are another. someone would have to be a complete idiot to sell a real 4-1 for $150. they literally close $250+ on ebay
