To make it cheap and easy, is there anybody here who would be willing to actually assemble those DIY wideband kits they sell on techedge? In other words, you tell us what to buy, we send it to you, you assemble it and send it on back (for a reasonable fee of course)?

I figure this would be very easy and relativley inexpensive, especially if you're no master electrician or not very good with soldering on small printed boards. Anybody up for this? We'd need a GB on wideband O2's from other Honda/thepartsbin/techedge, the wideband DIY kit and any accesories needed.

So does this sound good or what?

For those that already do Hondata installs, I would think this would be right up there alley since they already probably have the equipment needed to do so.

Techedge sells a pre-built unit at a fairly reasonable price. It is about $300 shipped to your doors, all you have to do is find the impossible-to-get O2 sensor and you are in business.

The L1H1 sensor is becoming a Honda OEM only part, is what I've heard, and that is why people are having a hard time finding them. They are available at your local Honda dealer, you just have to sell your left nut to get it.

I build these kits on an exchange basis.

You send me your kit + $50, and I return to you a fully assembled kit.

I also sell complete kits with sensor (no exchange required) for $350.

There is a "wait list" to purchase completed kits... right now it's about 3 weeks.

... i can vouch for hal... he is a really good guy and does excellent work... even after he had my $$$, he still took the time to demo the kit for me to show me it works and also gave me advice for installation (inline fuse, heat wrap connections, etc)... he also helped me find an o2 sensor ... like i said, he is a really good guy... i just cant say enough good stuff about him... i recommend him to anyone (and already have)... i am from colorado just like he is and i picked up my kit from him in less than a week (once my parts came in from australia)... also, there is another colorado guy here on the board that got his kit from hal... if anyone needs... i can post pics of the kit he made me...

Hal,

If you can get the 5-wire VX sensors for cheaper than what Honda wants for them, let us know!! You'll have about 10 buyers!

Don't be skeered, they're only PCBs and some hardware. All it takes is a $6 Radio Shack soldering iron and an hour or so of careful work from what I can see.

How much? What are payment options? Do you have them in stock?

There are a lot of serious buyers here, we need the sensor but won't tolerate any funny business.

I just got my Pre-Built tech edge kit in the mail today, looks perty, probably gonna install it so once the sensor comes in the mail all I'll have to do is weld in a bung, and plug it up :D

Any ideas where I should mount the display box? And also where I should tap for ground?

I have mentioned this before, but will do so again. For 50$ I will construct these kits using professional industry grade equipment and materials. I will also be willing to order the kits for you (of course all shipping and kit costs will be payed by you.) For 75$ I will do the same, and many of the kit components will be replaced with MIL spec Ultra high tolerance components for added accuracy.

All kits I build will be comparison tested with another kit (which was compared to a "real" wideband o2 at the dyno and found to be very accurate.)
Let me know if anyone is interested. I'll post a few pics of my work shortly.
Heres the bottom board of the display unit:

Heres the top board of the display unit:

And here's the controller board:

Just go to techedge and buy the preassembled kit for $291 shipped, all you'll need is a sensor and you're done.

most units only work with ntk/ngk sensors. but you might get them to work with the bosch. even then have you actually tried buying one, i called every autozone i could with no luck. they were all out of stock. they will say they can get it but since they are on national backorder it probably won't happen soon
