89 CRX d15b2 to d16b7 - with auto tranny
Howdy.
I just picked up a stock 89 CRX with dpfi, auto tranny and a bad motor.
I also got a low-mile d16b7 longblock to drop in.
This car is staying auto, and it has to pass cali smog (visual inspection). The intake manifold has an extra port near the #4 cyl that the head of the d16 doesn't have. Is there any way to keep dpfi & auto trans and use this head? I don't want to spend another few hundred on MPFI and I don't want to swap the head.
I mean I'm down to do the auto-mpfi swap but I can't imagine I'm going to find a 90-91 auto civic in the yard with everything I need..
I know as I'm typing this I'm boned. Anybody have a solution I'm not thinking of?

Do you mean D15B7 or D16Y7?
Also, for either of those engines, technically you'll have to swap a few other things to be California legal unless you go somewhere they don't look at engine stamps (or don't care).

Sorry, right.. D16Y7.
I don't think my smog dude has ever looked at an engine stamp. I am worried about the vacuum lines not matching the hood sticker or book, though.. I have a wagon that I MPFI swapped which I haven't had to smog yet so I don't know if it's an issue with that dude.
