Hey guys,
I have a 2003 S2000 that I bought used. The previous owner had the entire car wrapped in 3M wrap to protect the paint. When I got it it looked great, but after 6 years it is starting to yellow, crack and for the life of me I cannot remove it.
I've tried a heat gun and various paint friendly solvents, but it's so adhered to the paint it always leaves behind a terrible residue.
I've heard the only way now is by a steam gun; does this seem viable?
Any help would be great, or if you know of anyone who can remove it for a reasonable rate I would gladly pay.
Thanks!

My buddy works for a place that does clear bra and window tint. I know they remove the tint on windows with defroster bars using a steam machine only as to not damage the defroster. I'm sure it works on clear bra type material also. He said something as simple as a normal clothing steamer should work just fine.
I'll send him a link to this thread and see what he thinks.

Thanks guys!
I've removed old window tint before, and this is far worse. 20x worse I'd say. The 3M material is really thick.
I'll look forward to what your friend suggests!
Thanks again - it looks like steam is the way to go

I talked to him about it last night and he said steam will not work on clear bra after it has become hard and brittle. He said you just have to do the good ole pick it off with your fingers method, there's no way around it. He suggested getting some 3M aerosol adhesive remover to get the sticky residue off after you remove the clear bra.

I have a 3m clear bra on my prelude and I am in the process of taking mine off as well. Not sure how long mine has been on for but I imagine quite some time. I used the heat gun method and didn't work so well for me. I definitely effed up in one spot by leaving it in that spot for far to long (see picture below). I used goo gone to get the residue off in areas that weren't melted. That big melted area took forever to get off and I used nail polish remover to get that off which has helped immensely!

Got the big melted spot gone and I am further along now then in this picture.

Have about three more inches gone now. I have about 8 hours in trying to get this **** off. It's just stupid how hard it is to get off. I can't imagine having the whole car wrapped in it. If you have the money I would take it to somebody to take it off, hopefully somebody good at it and wont mess up your paint job. Hard to find people to do a job right to your own liking these days though.
GOOD LUCK in whatever you do!!
