I just got a 01 civic ex.

it has the center dash area that has the oem cd player and the pocket below.

Someone has put a aftermarket cd player in it's place however...

I am in the process of putting the car back stock.

I am looking to get the oem cdplayer, and found that there's a dash set up with the tape deck and cd player below, will this work on my 01? it came from a 02. I'm guessing yes. but want advice.

Also, will it all light up amber/orange like the rest of my dash? or does this model light up differently because it may have come from a sedan and not a coupe.

 

It should light up amber, and if your factory harness hasn't been modified it will plug in just fine.

Just curious, why are you going stock? was the aftermarket real junk? Or is stock how you like cars?

 

It's my daily driver. So it is going to be stock USDM. My other car gets the JDM goodies.

No cheap ebay parts for me either way

 

Might I recommend going to LogJam Electronics and picking up an iPod adapter for the car? I run one on a couple of my cars, and simply love it because I don't need to run a ridiculous looking aftermarket head unit just to run an iPod (plus the factory unit has better audio quality).

 

You can change the colour illumination (orange to white) on the slave cd player by holding the disc eject button for 5 to 10 seconds. You can change the illuminaton on the factory casette player by taking it apart and adding orange colour filters to the back lighting.

 

^ so your saying the cd player is orange but the cassette player part is white?

*toyo, thanks. I rock that cassette to 3mm head phone jack thing to use my mp3 player lol, it's not really pretty, but get's the job done.

Well, I wouldn't buy a Wal-Mart H/U myself, to be fair. Comparing to aftermarket units, I just prefer the look and sound of the factory head units available. Heck, there's nothing wrong with swapping in a newer/nicer unit in to the space from a different Honda chassis (like a TSX or similar), but I still will always prefer factory options. I even swapped up my xB's headunit from the stock '05 unit to one from a 2010 xB.

 

I agree with an upgrade, and often after market has a far better Signal to noise ratio along with a better power rating, hence the better sound quality, which is often not the focus of a flat honda radio.
