Default A good/bad day at Woodburn Dragstip in Oregon....

Well, the day started out decent. I ran on my 17" Volks with Kuhmo tires and full interior (street trim). With an okay 2.295 60ft. was able to hit a 14.22 at 98.35mph. I was pretty happy with that being that the car weighs in just under 3000lbs. with me in it. I ran pretty consistent besides the occasional mis-shift.

My brother ran his 93 SOHC VTEC Civic Coupe with passenger seats removed and street tires (16" SSR Integrals with Paradas), and was able to hit a impressive 14.8 @ 94mph with a very decent 2.23 60ft.

Then the bad came into play. I brought my tool box as usual and put it in the area where we had our cars pitted. And when my runs were over and we were going home, my tool box was gone. Some AS*HOLE stole my box with $300 worth of my tools inside. Stuff like.....

Medium Size Husky tool Box $35
Tappet Wrench $50
Torque Wrench $40
Misc Sockets $30
Misc Wrenches $20
Adjustable Timing Light $85
Extensions/adapters/etc. $40
Allen Wrenches $10
3 Cell Maglite $20
Telescoping Magnet $5
Mechanics gloves $20
And a few little other things I can't recall.

I can't tell you how pissed I am. Yes, it's my fault for leaving it out, but everybody does it and it's common "courtesy" to leave other people's SH*T ALONE!!!! So it ruined my day. I have to admit that this incident today has left a really bad taste in my mouth. It kind of changed the way I think of the "import community". And I know it's wrong to let one bad apple spoil the bunch, but I mean come on? If they wanted to borrow a tool all they had to do was ask. The box was closed and latched, but I guess I should have locked it.

Oh, to add insult to injury on my way home from the drags my battery and ABS light came on. I pulled over, opened up the hood and sure enough my alternator belt snapped. Go figure, I didn't have the tools to fix it. So I drove it 30 minutes on battery power and luckily made it home. The benefits of an Optima battery I guess.

I'm still hoping someone when packing up at the track grabbed my tool box on accident. Will realize their fumble, and return it to Woodburn dragstrip. I have already talked with the dragstrip about it. I'll give it a week before I start replacing tools. There goes some more money

And one more thought, these tools are often used to help people (often young racers) in the import world to better their cars. I do work for very little and sometimes no cost at all. And the thanks I get is a slap in the face. I would be kind of like if someone that I just did a motor swap for walked out of my garage with $400 worth of tools. I thought there was honor and comradery in this sport. Guess not.

for the cost of a 12 pack and dragging a buddy to the track, tools with be safe.

Just have a friend get drunk on a 12 pack while sitting near your stuff (can cover 2-3 peoples "stuff") and no one will mess with your items.

I myself "thought" I had my autox rims stolen at local dragstrip. I was sitting about 1 hour in staging lanes after each pass. I checked my pit area each time I went by. Well a local racer notice no one stopping in and loaded all my stuff in the back of his pick-up and moved over by the fence. I ask all the track officials (they know me well) and no one had any ideas. Well I started walking around and notice my parts in his truck. Playing coy, I ask about the rims in hios truck. He said someone had left them laying out for 3-4 hours (yeah, it was that long) and he picked them up thinking someone had left them.

I got lucky and met a HONEST RACER. Now that the "ricer" crowd has overrun local track on Friday night, I leave all my stuff with the local Mustang guys.

PISSED in not the word when you find your stuff missing.

If you are referring to the Import Challenge that was run on Sunday Oct. 6th, there were a lot more Domestic Racers there than Imports.

Yes, I am referring to the import challenge on Sunday. And yes, there were a bunch of domestics there, but near my pit area I was surrounded by other imports when I got there, and when I left the other imports were gone, as well as my tool box.

Thanks for the idea about the pawn shop. That's not a bad idea. I had a bunch of snap-on tools in there because I went to the dyno the day before and didn't unpack the tool box. .

nice runs. I was planning to run too but my clutch was slipping bad. What kind of setup do you have?? Also, did you see my friend with a championship white EG hatch with a JDM integra front end?? He told me he was going to run but not sure. Haven't talked to him since we talked about it.
