Hey guys. I want to know what are some basics to making your R safe, cause I want to be able to relax without worrying about it getting stolen. Luckily for me, I live in a somewhat rural area, where cars never get stolen for the most part. It will be a DD so I would be parking at a college campus for the most part, patrolled by law enforcement/ monitored by cameras. But I don't feel like that's enough.

So guys, what do you recommend? I don't have the car until Saturday, but I want to have a plan to keep her safe. I was considering a Viper, but if anyone has any other opinions feel free to offer them here.

Again, I live in a low theft area, rural for the most part, and when not at school the car will be in the garage; ALWAYS.

Parking it on a campus is asking for trouble. You most likely will have a theft attempt.

Alarm installs for the most part are junk and easily disabled even by novice thieves. If you're serious about security....get this.

I agree 110%. R's are never safe no matter what area your in. Even if you buy a $1500 clunker it's worth the investment.

 

I'll consider it. Not going to be fun lugging that around, but I'll have to make sacrifices. I do want the Viper though, it has engine kill feature, and a motion detector.

 

Doesn't matter....it won't help you. It'll only annoy the theives...they'll still get the car.

That's not something I'd be doing is hoping for the best with an R..just invest in a dd as a security investment and you won't have to worry about the R

I'll try to drive it as least as possible then. My parents will have an SUV sitting around that they aren't using.

Most of the R owners I am aware of that have had them for a while will have a safe place to store them, be it a garage and or storage facility and don't drive them daily.

I would suggest that you hold off until you can afford a dd. This car is a vehicle that is highly sought after vehicle by thieves for it's parts that can be easily transferred into at least 3 chassis models- EG, DC, EK.

You buy this car and start driving it daily, and to a college campus no less, is just setting yourself up for the day you walk out to you car only to see it broken into or worse where it once was, never to be seen again or in the condition it was in before taken. It's just a matter of time before someone tries to take it with the type of exposure you have intended for it alarm or not.

I hope you heed the advice and not to deter you from getting the car you want, but I would hate to read that you, like so many others that got the car they wante,d which was a mark for a punk *** thief from the get go, drove it to work / college only to have it raped and or stolen. Get a dd that no one wants first.

 

I had a 70 ss chevelle I use to leave unlocked with the windows down with no worries,
because I had my 60lb pitbull leashed to the shifter, ya go ahead and stick your hand in there lol.

Also think of the kms (or miles) you're not putting on your R.

 

All security measures only add time. They never actually prevent the car from being taken if the douche wants it bad enough. Cool things can be done with Vipers like fuel cuts and stuff that pisses off thieves when you cross wires are stuff. Plenty more can be done.

The Rhino can be beaten with the right tools (but usually thieves with access to that stuff don't bother stealing Hondas).

 

College campus is PRONE to theft!!!

My cousins car was jacked recently off college campus and they have cameras and PIGS driving around also!

Alarms wont stop thieves nothing will if they want it they'll get it!!!!!!!!!
I say if you have to drive it get the following

1 clutch lock
1 steering wheel lock
4 kill switches
Viper alarm
2 alarm horns under dash
That orange thing for your front tire
Remove Ecu & Steering wheel (nrg)

I know it sounds retarted but for a R id even wrap a fucing Chain from a boat anchor around 2 wheels and onto a pole

I'm no longer buying alarms or installing kill switches, pulling the steering wheel and relocating fuses, I've been down that road and have literally nothing to show for it. I've already lost 3 Hondas. Real thieves will up and tow your car, believe me. Get a DD, period.

 

just buy a boot that covers your wheel. No one is going to flatbed an R with security lurking.
