2001 Civil LX cat manifold
Hi everybody,
I have a 2001 civil lx with 180K on it. The car sounded like sucking air when i accelerate and wouldn't move more than a mile before it stop. I notice a crack on the cat manifold. It has a integrated front cat converter and manifold under the hood. I was wondering 1) is there a difference between the oem brands. I saw a davico for 227 and it was a cheapest one I saw and also an eastern for 280. are they good? 2) How hard is it to replace a front mounted one. I saw somw posts about the under one but nothing about the front one. Do I need jack or is it possible to replace it from the hood.
Thanks

I would recommend going with RockAuto.com for a replacement, due to their overall cost. I've had good luck with the factory generics from RockAuto in the past.
As for the replacement process, you will need to get under the car to remove the lower mounts to the manifold. As the catalytic converter is integrated in the manifold, the removal process will basically consist of removing the manifold from the head of the engine, as well as the exhaust piping below the engine. You will also need an O2 sensor socket to remove the O2 sensor.

Just got a walker brand from Advance Auto Parts. It was 250 which was low compare to other websites (300s) plus they have a 20% off everything today for cyber monday I guess. endup 200 bucks. :D
