Default Can someone help me with a clutch question?

I have this brand new Exedy clutch I bought for my old 92 Civic that I put less than 500 miles on and I have a 4 speed 20 spline tranny in the car I drive now. So the clutch will work but my question is should or could I use it? Also my other thing is (not really as important as my first question) is Friday driving home from work I would shift into 1 - 3rd and my engine would be reving but my car would jerk the first little bit of getting into that specific gear as if the clutch was slipping or bad. I've taken the tranny out and the clutch is old but shows signs of some life left but my pressure plate does have bad gashes on the pressure plate teeth from the throw out bearing. (reason I'm asking about the Exedy clutch I have) but wanted to see if anyone else thought it would be clutch related. I would do some googling but my computer is being stupid so the only enternet I have is my phone therefor I'm very limited to what I can do. Thank you in advance for your response.

I should've elaborated a little.....the new clutch in question was for a 92 S20 hydro tranny. But it has the same twenty spline count as my SL3 cable tranny. It bolts on fine to the flywheel on my SL3......I guess my question more or less is, does it matter if the clutch and flywheel was for a hydro tranny?

Slip the clutch on the input shaft. If it fits, use it.

The clutch disk and flywheel should work but I've read that the pressure plate is cable or hydro specific. Tho Im currently using a clutch kit that is for a hydraulic tranny with my cable tranny and it has been working but I have been having issues. Not sure if it is directly linked to that. Still trying to figure it out

no it doesn't matter - the cable and hydraulic clutch disc, pressure plate and flywheel are the same - the only difference is the clutch release (throwout) bearing - you need to use the one for the cable transmission

Yeah I've noticed that the whole throwout bearing assembly is entirely different compared to the hydro. Thanks "jlicrx"! You've saved me a bit of money.
