Oil change question
I have owned my integra since early september and the previous owner had received an oil change back in June and before that they had changed oil around 3700 miles or 6 months prior (december). A total of only 1500 miles has just been added since June. I was wondering if I should get to changing it as I am hitting that 6 month mark again. Not too sure to hit that mileage or doing it by month interval. Thanks in advance for your guys help.
i would always change oil when i buy a new car thats just me i dont trust old owners
when i bought my EG they said they changed sparplugs timing belt tensioner sparkplug wires oil and coolant
when i checked the coolant the temp wasnt even close to what it was soposed to be
the sparkplugs were rusted
the coils of the wires stayed on the plugs
oh and the T-belt snapped so i decided to go H2B
always do a full tune up after ubying a new car

i change my oil at 2200-2500 miles. I dont drive too hard but it seems to dirty the oil fast with this ecu, plus, why not do it sooner rather than later?
I go by what it looks like....

I knew the previous owner, good friend of mines and everything is good. My oil seems to be pretty clean still, but it has been 6 months and only 1700 driven. I suppose I should just change it anyways.
Yes you could just change it to be safe but usually just go by milage that you do. But it varies on different things like how hard you drive and whatnot but its always going to be your preference by milage visual ect.
I have another question about which oil to pick as I have 165,000 miles, but of course this car has been changed with only non-synthetic oil. Would it be better to switch over to synthetic oil? Or just keeping using the high mileage non-oil.
if it was always on regular conventional, you can also use that but make sure you change it consistently every 3,000 miles or 3 months. stay away from synthetic at that mileage unless you've always had it in there because it may damage your seals, gaskets and cause leaks.
the reason why higher mileage is better for your situation is because they have additives (like conditioners and cleaners) that help keep old internal engine parts last longer because they are most likely worn. i recommend 5w30 valvoline maxlife or the 10w30 if you burn some oil every now and then. valvoline maxlife is one of my favorite higher mileage motor oils. pennzoil high mileage is good as well.
