96 Accord EX Won't get into gear (reverse works still)
I have this odd problem with my 96 Accord EX, while I was driving one day I started noticing that my car would shift gears at a higher rpm than usual (would shift at 4-5k instead of 2-3k). Before the end of the day the car wouldn't shift past the 2nd gear and the next day it would stay at 1st.
I have done a search and have found numerous threads similar to this but the problem was never really pin pointed.
I just replaced my shift control solenoid and the problem still persists. The car still gets into first sometimes and can also reverse. I'm hoping it's something else besides the transmission as replacing that would almost cost as much as the car itself.
One last thing I noticed is that there is a high pitched whining sounds that started occurring after the car started not shifting. It goes in tune with my rpm as I accelerate. Could it be another part of the car that has an issue?
