Default What else can I do?

I have a 94 Honda LX, it was in an accident in the end of February. I didn't repair it then, I didn't have the money. But around May/June I tried to start it up. Nothing... I have replaced the starter, alternator, fuel injectors, fuel filter, battery (twice), ecu, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotar, uhh...I took of my fuel rail and turned the key and gas is getting to the rail. I cleaned under my valve cover, my pistons and such b/c this guy poured oil down my plugs. (that's why I'm never letting a guy touch my car again, no offense of course) My ex-b/f checked for spark on one plug should I do them all? What else could possibly be the problem??

u said you have replaced the cap, how bout the distributor itself? Make sure your wires are indexed correctly. Because if they aren't indexed correctly then your firing order is messed up. I had this similar problem on my 89 CRX, and it ended up that the timing on the car was off. Where was the car hit? What kind of damge was there? I would be hard pressed to check your timing and make sure it is correct. I think your engine the timing should be 17 or 18 degrees, you can rent a timing gun from Autozone, or Advanced, whatever you have in your part of Ohio. You could also check your ignition key, key tumbler, and anything on the inside of the car instead of the motor. Check your fuses and relays also. This is a pretty complete description of what it could be.

when you said nothing does it mean you don't have any cranking ???
if so, look at the fuse box, or starter switch or main relay.

how much did all those parts cost? just wondering because a diagnosis is usually about 50 bucks and that seems like it would have been quite a bit cheaper/easier

it seems to me you should never let yourself touch your car again, no offense of course.

So what is happening? Is it clicking, but not cranking? is it cranking but not turning over? is it not doing anything at all?

have you checked your fuses?

Ok...first of all I didn't cause the accident for the guy that said I shouldn't be allowed to touch my car again. I wasn't even in the car...it was at that time my sister's car. And I did get it running yesterday. But when I came home from school today the battery was dead. This is now the 3rd time that my battery has died since I bought it about a month ago. What is the deal now??

Oh...the problem b4 was that my ecu was bad and my firing order wasn't right.

Check your alternator and make sure it is hooked up correctly, this will drain your batterey. Also make sure everything is grounded, and nothing is staying on while the car is in the "off" posistion.

When you have a new engine and you fill the beast up with oil, you pour some down the cylinders w/o the plugs in them, and you use the starter to turn the engine over to build up oil pressure and properly lube the cylinders and the walls. Then you put the plugs in and crank 'er up and burn off all the oil and tada, your engine is luberific

Also, when you put an engine aside for a while, it's strongly suggested to pour oil in cylinder for that period, it prevent that the piston jam in the sleeve, I was doing this to my bike every time I was putting it in the garage for the winter.
I think you should thanks the guy that do this cause it's probably because of him you still got an "engine" still it dosn't crank up but anyway it's an engine !!héhé

so if you cleaned the pistons, that would mean that you took off your cylinder head. Did you get your t-belt back on properly?

Lol. Let's see....if you know where Elyria or Lorain is, it's right there. But if you don't....it's about a half hour away from Cleveland. It's a little town practically no one has heard of. But anyways back to my car. A few days ago I got my car running, yes...but then when I came home from school my battery was dead. My good friend Ben took me to Autozone and got me a new battery. This would have been the 3rd time my battery has died in the past 2 months and when my brake was applied my lights would get dimmer and when gas was applied they would get brighter. So I was told it was my voltage regualtor or my entire alternator. So I pulled my alternator (pain in my @$$!) yesterday and took it back to Autozone, the thing was completely bad. You could actually smell something burning inside. So I was pissed, I ordered a new one and it will be in today (10/11) . But I was just wondering what could have caused my alternator to go bad like that or was it just a bad alternator to start with??

AutoZone parts suck in general.

You will look forward to replacing that alternator again, and again, and again if you put an AutoZone one in.

Do yourself a favor and get the Genuine Honda one. Yes it's probably 3 times as much, but it will outlast the AutoZone one by more than 3 times and it works better to begin with.

You're really limiting yourself as far as mechanics go by not letting a guy touch the car, aren't you?

You should have just had a reputable shop do a full check over on the car and fix it from there rather than keep guessing and replacing parts that probably didn't need to be replaced from the beginning.

My shop charges $49.00 to check the car out, and we waive that fee if you have any repairs done to the car. We use only Honda parts because the ****-parts will always come back to bite you in the ***. The only aftermarket stuff we use are axles because they have a lifetime warranty ob them.

Good luck, but the rate you're going you'll replace shitloads of parts and the car might still not run at all.

My car is running and I don't mind replacing parts, I don't think half of you understand. I would rather spend my days in the hood my car instead of anything else. So replacing parts all the time doesn't bother me at all. I absolutely love working on my car. As for the parts, as soon as I get enough money saved, I'm selling this Honda and getting an Acura or another Honda. So I won't have to deal with this one much longer. Who knows...maybe I'll keep this one put a genuine Honda alternator in it and give it to my brother. I have yet to decide. No I'm not limiting myself as far as mechanics by not letting a guy touch my car. There are a few exceptions I have, like 3. I know they won't do stupid **** to my car. But if in doubt I ask around before I do anything to my car. So nope...I can do it just as well as any guy could.
