Default P1457 help!!! Smog check time

So my gar got jacked and stripped last year. It's a 98 gsr. I put it back together with a 97 gsr motor running a 98 gsr ecu. After I put it back together a had a p1457 cel but the car ran fine so ikust ignored it but now it's time to smog it. I'm pretty sure it won't pass so just check all the lines in the evap system for leaks and didn't find anything. I also bought a used charcoal canister with the valve on it and it still won't go away. Help please! Out of ideas now

have you checked your valve lash? how many km on the swapped motor? if it ran fine b4 while the code was on maybe you have a slightly bent valve is your motor noisey ?

When I bought the swap, the guy told me there was 90-100k miles on it. The motor does make some noise but I thought it was the just something with the tranny or throw out bearing because when I step on the clutch it goes away. I haven't checked the valves yet but I don't see what that would have to do with a evap leak

Hey i had this same code on my 98 civic hatch. i read that i could be gas cap and then i read that gas cap would throw a diff code.

Anyways i noticed after i cleared the code it would stay off untill i got gas so i filled it up with gas and tighened the gas cap reset the code and drove 150+miles and then passed nys inspection.

The weird part is the light never came on again so i think my evap leak fixed itself but i bet this COULD work for you too.

Bought a new gas cap as well. After resetting the ecu, comes back on after about 60 miles. Is there a way to bypass this just for the smog test? The car runs fine just the stupid cel keeps coming on

Um, you answered your own question.

If it takes 60 miles to come back on, test it before reaching that mark after resetting.

Unless they do a port scan, in which case the lack of readiness from the reset will cause a fail.

1) Not if the OP is in Cali. Smog required for a sale.
2) A man's car is the last thing he should ever give a woman the ability to sell.

i would keep trying the refueling and restetting the code. it is bound to work sooner or later. otherwise you gotta go under your car near the gas can and either replace that sensor or find a leak or whatever.
