What the hell is that? What does it do - tie the rear seatbelts into the rear shock towers?

You gotta be kidding, right? I normally stay out of these threads, but I continue to be amazed at what people spend good money for.

why wouldnt you just buy a rollbar and save 300 bucks?

not to mention stiffen your car more than that JDM "circuit" racing junk

I was merely kidding, FWIW. That car is humorous. Racin' seat, those fancy green japanese 4 pt. harnesses tied into the rear seat belt mounting points, and this jungle jim of a contraption. No, that's not a show car...really.

It looks like someone decided to take the "shock tower bar" one step further and beef up the rear hatch support shocks. Maybe they can put some Koni's up there to increase the speed in which the hatch opens.

Drew, I'm surprised you don't recognize the dual benefits of this device:

1. It decreases the dreaded hatch shake when cruising with hatch open to let everyone hear your subs.

2. In the event of a frontal impact, it keeps said subs from whacking you in the back of the head.

cage is unsafe in a street car , rollBAR is not

you talking about a 4pt Takata Harness right? It isnt for SHOW FYI
if its a 4 pt it IS for show , nobody would be caught dead on the track with a four point

Stop bashing if you know nothing about the culture nor what it is.
what the HELL does CULTURE have to do with safety

oh and FYI - even the JDM racers add the 5th point on the "green" harnesses.....

You summed it up right here. It's a "culture"... and one that most people do not understand.

The "import scene", like most teen fad's is not logical and only makes sense to the people who are caught up in it.

thus one of the main reasons for selling my car

call me bandwagon what the **** ever , I'm not a teen and dont wanna be throw into this group of idiotic children.

sorry to vent to you Jeff , but between these two posts this morning I've had it.

My mistake - what the **** was I thinking?

Its called DIFFERENT TASTE.
So it is "taste" that makes people add useless items to their cars because they think it has a benefit? I thought it was stupidity.
damn, you guyz bash too much
we have REASONS for things.
Explain the REASON for strengthening the rear hatch supports and then connecting them to the shock towers.
Not all people are comfortable with Roll Cages around them.
Yeah because it makes the interior look tacky and it is harder to see the Arospeed seats with all those pipes in the way. So what you are saying is that the above contraption is a "substitute" for a roll cage? How so?
Green 4pt Belt? you talking about a 4pt Takata Harness right? It isnt for SHOW FYI
Sure it is. As stated above NO ONE races with a 4-point. Not on track in REAL racing anyway. Maybe some street racers and drifters have a false sense of security wearing a 4-point but such is life. You can't educate everyone.

4-point + frontal impact = broken ribs or possibly worse . . .

Stop bashing if you know nothing about the culture nor what it is.
Explain the culture to us. Explain how adding useless bullshit to a car is a benefit. Also explain how useless "show" bullshit has a place in THIS forum.

Yea, I know what you mean. I try my best not to read other forums as I can't help but respond to the junk that's going on. It's unfortunate that some people are feeling like they have to sell their cars to avoid the association (not that this is what you're doing), or the R owners who are selling because of the constant fear of theft.

If I weren't so happy with my car I would be considering the same thing.

no, i don't.

don't wanna roll into all those shows with a load of passengers. plus, there is too much neon back there to sit people down. and if i put passengers in the back, them plus the subs would make my coilover conversion bottom out with my stock shocks.

no, it keeps the flex in the upper hatch to a minimum. since that hatch if hodas weakest as far as largest open unibody area

OMG. That just made it all so clear. Neon and subs.

Looking at the "x-brace" and how it mounts and WHERE it mounts, I'd have to say that it's pure sTunNaH material. Do yourself a favor, if you SERIOUSLY track the car: Get rid of the ricer neon, and sell that x-shaped extra cosmetic weight to one of those bone-heads who was really impressed with it in the other forum. Just because it's Japanese and not available over here doesn't mean it actually works. Take the money you get and buy a real roll bar, Autopower or otherwise, or better yet have one fabricated by a race shop (not one that does pimp street ricer stuff but one that actually specialized in autox/road race work) and go a long way towards saving your own life. You'll still impress the pimpdaddy/stunnah/ricer/streetracer crowd at the shows, and you'll have something that's actually SAFE to drive at high speeds on a road course. And FOR GOD'S SAKE get the anti-submarine strap for your harnesses! Even if you hide it under the seat for 'da showz, it'll help keep your back from being broken in a wreck.

And for the other guy, we all understand the culture. We just know how stupid all of the posing is and the fact that 99.9% of the CRAP that ricers put on their cars is worthless **** meant only to impress people who don't know what real performance parts are.
