Fix crankshaft or JDM engine
I bent My crankshaft on my 1999 accord 2.3 l. The mechanic advised that replacing the crankshaft will cost more than replacing the engine. Does anyone have experience with JDM engines? Are they viable replacements? The car is still in great condition and I would like a good engine that will last, not one that will crap out on me in 50k miles.
how did you bend a honda crank? thats something pretty serious that you did there...i had a honda dealer tell me the crank was bent but could not tell me how they determined it since the crank was still in the car, when i took it apart it was a bent rod and nothing else.
jdm engines are just like any other junkyard engine, some are good, some are great and others not so great. a reputable dealer will back the sale. If it was me I would probably consider going with a replacement engine if you need the car back sooner rather than later.

The crank pulley broke on the highway. The mechanic put a new one one and noticed that the new one had a wobble when the motor was running. Since then, the wobble has gotten worse and sooner or later it will break again.
Just get another JDM F23A.
They're pretty reliable and have low miles. Just be sure to do front and rear main seals, t-belt, t-stat, and water pump before you get the engine back in. It'll save you tons of work in the long run.
