Default Making exhaust a bit more quiet

I recently bought a 91 CRX and it came with a custom cat back exhaust. It's louder than I prefer and was thinking about either adding a resonator or replace the muffler to reduce the noise. I want a smooth deep exhaust note at medium noise level (not stock quiet, but not too loud). Anyone with suggestions/thoughts/personal experience to share? Thanks

Install the longest resonator (glass pack/cherry bomb) that you can fit in your existing system. After it "burns out" you should have what you are looking for.

Resonator or full aftermarket solution.

For my CRX-B18C, swapped out the Skunk2 axle back for a Greedy axle back was my solution. If you have an existing N1 axle back, adding just the resonator only quite it down to a certain degree. The output exhaust note will still sounds some what irritating loud.

The words "irritating" and "loud" are synonymous with N1. It is a style/statement, not a functional noise supressor.

You obviously have to start with a decent muffler that is not such a POS fart can and then add a resonator. If you want it quieter, add another resonator.

I will vouch "Vibrant" is horrible... Now I do have a 3" exhaust with both muffler and resonator by this company, but even with the turbo helping block the noise its still extremely loud and sounds like garbage... Mmmm tasty.

Don't know what you're talking about, had a Vibrant Stealth on my Accord and loved it. Nice deep tone

Do you have a lot of bends in your exhaust?

Pipe was 2.5" Mandrel bent at all the stock locations, cat + 1 resonator

Well I guess I shouldn't be soo biased... Mine is 2 slight bends for rear axle and no cat - the rest is all straight 3" pipe. This of course is on a CR-V RT4WD... Regardless - maybe I am a bit too harsh come to think about it... I have never liked the way "tuners" sound. Just ignore my old fart comments and do what you want.
