mechanical timing issue or faulty CPS??
So first off I had the exhaust cam slip a few teeth on the timing belt. I was throwing code 9 and check engine light. I've replaced the timing belt and all the seals and water pump since I had to already open it up to those points. Well I checked my timing four times and started it up. It started up and ran by itself without the check engine light but it's still throwing the code 9. I also took the ECU fuse out for a couple minutes, put it back in and restarted it. But it still threw the code.
I'm assuming it is my mechanical timing but it's confused me by not throwing the check engine light now.......I got to go back into it anyway because something is whining, I think it's the belt not being aligned right. But I was just looking for some advice about the code because of the no CEL.

what engine do you have man?
i have the same code on my ZC, be sure to double check the mechanical timing and set it perfectly, http://www.zcspeed.com/ZCtimingbelt.pdf
also it could be your CPS like you said (cyclinder position sensor). let us know what motor you have so we can help you further with the CPS

It's a stock DOHC ZC....and the guy "jilicrx" I think is his honda-tech name, refered me to that zcspeed "how to". And that's what I followed, the only thing I did differently was at the end of installing the timing belt and turning it three teeth then tightening the belt tensioner I got all the slack to the tensioner end then pryed up on it then tightened it. That might have been my flaw right there.....but other than that like I said I checked the timing multiple times but it still could be the mechanical timing.
I dont get it you get the tension out of the belt by turning the crank the 3 teeth. After you did that did you pry on it to tighten it more? After you set your mechanical timing you should then set your ignition timing(with a light).
Yeah that's almost exactly what I did except I didn't turn it three teeth. I marked in the middle of slack on the belt then turned it till the mark got to the tensioner. Then I pryed up on it. This is only the second time I've put a timing belt on a car, so I'm new to it. As I metioned that's probably where my flaw was but I'm gonna go do it that way in a little bit. And thanks for reminding me about the timing light, I almost forgot to even get one to use later.
Ok so I did the timing three different times as you two said and that ZCspeed link. I swear the timing is on point, I couldn't get it anymore better if I tried. My question is the fact that I'm still throwing a code 9.....the car runs fine, doesn't have that whining noise as it did last night. Should I try clearing the computer or is it truly telling me that the timing is still off? And like last night, I don't have a CEL on just the ECU throwing the code. I do have two more CPS's that I'll try.......I don't wanna sound like a ratard but as I stated earlier, it's confused me by not having the CEL come on.
