Shifter Light on 2000 accrord ex not lighting up
Is there a fuse or bulb that I can replace to get the shifter indictor to light up. Its an automatic and the shifter between the seats is the one thats not lighting up, the instrument panel does though. Isnt the shifter panel supposed to light up?
Just checked with a Honda Dealer and they said that there is a light bulb for the shifter so I removed the plastic trim peice that outlines the shifter console and I can see a red wire that goes under the strip of indicators for P, R, D etc.
How do you remove the plate that the shifter slips through to get to the bulb?

Here is how I replaced my bulb after buying it from the dealer. $5.
First thing was I removed the perimeter trim peice around the shifter base. I could see the red wire andwhere it connected underneath, but no way to stick my fingers in there and yank it out. The bulb does come out but of that indicator box but it has to twist first to remove.
So after tryiing that I did the following.
Removed cupholder by pulling it out, not too difficult.
Applied the emergency brake
Put shifter in the central position so the the shifter console could more easily slide up to access the bulb
Removed the shifter handle, spring loaded so watch where the spring lands when you remove it.
Took the inlay and tried to pry it off, its just clips no screws

Removed the 4 screws holding the shifter indicator console, had to pull it up to pry it out of its clips, and then slid it out from under the outer console shell (tan console part in my pic-not sure what its called), then slid it off the shifter and was able to then turn it over and access the bulb.

Flipped it over and twisted the bulb connection to remove the wire and bulb holder. Then just pulled out the old bulb and replaced, slides in.

Then re assemble in reverse order.
My wife can now see what gear she is in without having to use the dash indicator.
