Post Stock GSR! Plan 2 Build

Hey Honda-tech,
New to the forum. I just got 99 Integra GSR w/59,000 original miles!!! The car is original and all stock. I recently just bought an SRI from injen. I have plans but keeping my options open. Thinking of going all motor or maybe run small boost. Just reaching out for some pointers. I am mechanically inclined. So any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks =KonaSoljah=

What i was planning on doing is getting simple bolt on's for now(I,H,E). Then get skunk2 Tuner series stage 1 cams and get blox flat valves w/springs and retainers. Then probably get it tuned...if i plan to go w/turbo maybe dropping my compression due to boost maybe 8-12lbs. Not to sure tho, i have friends saying a stock gsr block can handle lil boost. Thanks for the post.

yes the stock block can handle a good amount of boost, boosting is not as expensive as doing an all n/a build so either way your good. Good find with that low mileage teg!

Hey thanks for the post and tips. In hawaii, its super rare to come across a stock unabused integra. Im pretty stoked! So a stock B18C1 can handle boost... Any suggestions on brands? I know that I wanna get legit parts and not cheap knockoffs. Thanks again

Well im plan to do both. I do weekend run sometimes with friends n I go to the tracks at timez. But im not trying to go big n all pro. Im just buildin me a toy.haha. ITS cheap on gas n its my DD. Im just makin a lil quicker/faster than some of the competition. As for your other question...I did not choose to go boost. My car is still stock. Im keepin my options open

o ok just asking because im still shooting around some ideas for my own build. Im looking for something sort of what your doing except its going to be dedicated to autocross and it will be streeted occasionally. But im going all motor for sure. Ive seen bad things happen to boosted cars on a circle track and temps are hard to manage when you do a lot of running.

Im planning to boost also. Im going to get my block rebuilt since its overmileage(202,000 *yikes*) with oem bearings, arp head and main studs, arp rod bolts and nippon low comp pistons. I plan to piece my kit together but if you're in the market for a decent kit, go-autoworks kits looks like legit and pretty affordable.

Thanks for posting.
So my next question is...Any 1 know of a good 4-2-1 stainless steel header for a 99 integra gsr?
i wanted the Greedy ss 4-2-1, but they discontinued that header. If any1 knows where i can get that header that would be great. If i couldnt cant get the Greedy, next i was thinking Vibrant SS 4-2-1. Any info on these parts would be appreciated. Thanks

Whichever route you decide to take, be sure to research your options yourself before doing anything. Its great to ask for advice, but you need to be able to separate the facts from the crap. The Forced Induction forum has a great FAQ at the top of the forum, it should answer most boost-related questions you have.

Gaurantee. Thanks for the tip. Im still tryin 2 get the hang of this forum. But as for seperating the crap n facts...I usually know when people are talkin facts n when people think they know what they're talkin about...haha. I'll check out that forum out for sure. But i was thinkin i might just go with simple bolt-ons. My next purchase is a Stainless steel 4-2-1 header. but im thinkin im goin to buy a short shifter soon from b&m. We'll see.

B&m short shifter is on the way! So now im lookin in purchasing an exhaust...I looked into the skunk2 mega power 60mm exhaust. Only due to its larger 2.36 tubing.BUT i searched and i see alot of people saying its loud as hell. So i dont kno yet. Not going to 2.50 tubing, i think its to big. more so for turbo set ups. And on the other hand i was thinking maybe dc sports exhaust...it uses a 2.25 tubing and i here its not quiet n has a pretty nice tone to it. Any suggestions? Thanks

Nah ya, im going with bolt on's for now. so i decided im going to get a cheap header. 4-1 SS DC Sports. So your exhaust is loud...? Im thinking of getting the skunk2 megapower 60mm exhaust for its pipping(2.36), but i was thinking of just welding another muffler to tone the loudness down. Are you running the stock cat.? N wats your mods? Go check out my other thread "Exhaust Review Thread" if you have details n pic of your exhaust. Its for people that want refferences on different types of exhaust. Thanks for Posting

ive heard allot of good things about the Yonaka exhaust. its kinda like the WS2
stong deep/quiet tone and might bolt up to the dc 4-1 headers you want. imo dont do a build just keep your stock motor strong and matained well, then save for a nice k24 swap that everyone hates on. 300hp and tons of tourqe with 6 speed trans. from a NA that preaty sick. and once its done its done just mataince from then on.

Why would you buy an exhaust system then swap the muffler...Why not buy the muffler you want and have an exhaust shop custom fab your piping? For $600 you could get a nice custom setup...IMO anyways.

What about Borla mufflers, I've never heard one on a Honda...Anyone familiar?
