OEM Access CD player install Help
So I picked up a factory cd player for an 88-89 crx. The problem im having is hooking it up. It has the standard din cord but also a 6 wire plug that does not match up to any oem plug that I have seen.
To the NooBs dont chime in saying to cut and splice the wires, this is a factory unit.
The dealers dont have any install manuals anymore so Im looking for any advice.

i believe you're going to have to source an oem radio that came with a cd player in, those plugs will plug into the radio part then the dash harness plugs into the radio.
in other words teh cd player is controlled through the stock tape deck

I do have a factory cass with the round din cord. My problem is the square 6 wire plug. It is unlike any radio or factory dash plug I have seen. I have even checked early 80's accords and civics.
I do have another honda access din cd player from a newer year that has both the round din cord and retangle factory radio jumper harness. I would just rather use the one above because it is era correct and new old stock from Honda.

I have the Cassette/Radio with the 7-band EQ. I'll have to check to see if it has both plugs in the back.
I wonder how skip-resistant those old OEM CD players were. They were expensive options back in the day though, I remember that.

Honda sells an installation kit for the factory CD player - maybe that is what you need?

I would guess that a dealer that really knows what they are doing could pull up some old OEM install directions. It's not like Honda has pitched those...I'm sure they still exist, even if on microfiche or something. You're going to have to dig around.
not sure if you got the cd player hooked up yet. I stumbled across this going through my bookmarks. The guy that started the sedan squad has the cassette and cd player setup in his car https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...3747&page=2301
I put this 98' ish CRV/Accord tape and cd combo in my 91 Si.
I had to go to installer.com to buy an aftermarket 20-pin Honda chassis side plug pigtail to help make a jumper to plug into my Factory harness.
That was my issue. The CD player plugged into the back of the factory tape/headunit.

Not sure what you have going on, but most likely need the tape/headunit that it came with, or simillar.

I lucked out today, I found the exact cd player in a wrecked car and was super happy to find this with it...The factory sub-harness

Damn that's spendy, I bet if you called and talked to them they would offload it for cheap as new old stock. Come on Rob you should be all over this by now lol. I would be very interested if they had a CD player install mounting kit.
