Type S Intake Review
So I picked up one of these guys today and just finished putting it in about 30 minutes ago. I thought I would be a good candidate for reviewing this as my car is 100% stock so any sound/power gains by this thing will be noticed and solely attributed to the intake
Installation was incredibly easy...and I'm a pretty huge nub when it comes to anything like this...granted this isn't that complicated.
1. Undo the four clips holding down the filter box and lift up the top section of the filter box. I pushed mine aside and let it sort snag itself on the battery strap to get it out of the way.
2. Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the lower part of the the filter box onto the car. Remove lower filter box.
3. Loosen the hose clamp that holds onto the throttle body.
4. Loosen the second hose clamp that is attaching this little hose to the side of the airbox.
5. Remove your stock airbox
I more than likely did alot of this in a weird way or a way that could have been easier, but I guess that just goes to show just how easy it is to do this.
6. Install new lower filter box using the same two 10mm bolts you removed before (unless yours came with two new ones)
7. Assemble the intake (attaching the intake body to the filter body) and work it into place, sliding onto the throttle body and back over the lower part of the filter box. It's pretty damn easy but does require a little persuasion.
8. Reinstall the little hose/plug thing onto the side of the airbox and reinstall the hose clamp on top of that. Tighten the hose clamp over the airbox where it attaches to the throttle body and you're done!
So back to the review part!
I had read many different things about this airbox prior to deciding to purchase one. Lot's of stuff like, "sounds deeper/growlier/throatier/rummblier etc...". After installing and then driving I can't say that I really noticed it sounded wayyy different as far as deeper or throatier. I can simply say that it just sounded better! Just all around, the engine sounded better. Normal driving was more or less indistinguishable from the stock airbox. But under wide open throttle it was louder and well...better sounding. I can't really pin it down on deeper or throatier or w/e...cause it didn't really change like that. As far as performance goes it did feel slightly more responsive. Whether or not it gained power should really just be left out of this I think...cause even if it I did gain .5-1.5 hp I don't think I would have noticed
. I do like it very much though, the responsiveness upgrade and the better sound was well worth the money to get this thing.
Last note:
I've had an AEMv2 before and I like the type S airbox more than that, and more than the usdm stock one (obviously). GET ONE

Well yeah sorta. Not all of us are trying to build 10 second cars and so in that case what else are you buying it for? I thought it was a good review
My posts of .... got deleted from mister vinuero.
I can say that it is a good write up and someone took some real time to post this, but really installing an air intake on your car for power, is a joke. You make no power with an air intake upgrade. CIA or short air is a good laugh. butt dyno on a stock 14-15 second car is not going to net any real gains.
