Need Help for Picking Tires
I'm looking for some new tires, some that are fairly cheap but decent. Something that would get me around without slipping in the rain... (yeah I was slipping the other day when it rained pretty badly... along with my ****ed up alignment) anyway, I'm looking for tires that would go good on an EG.
wheel size, car year. Do you only drive in wet and dry? If so you probably want a summer tire. depending on your size there are many good choices. Some off the top of my head that are good, but availability depends on size: yokohama s drive, azenis rt615k, bridgestone re 11, yokohama advan ad08, dunlop star spec, kumho xs. out of these the s drive is the least grippy, its a good compromise for value and performance. all the others are some of the best street tires you can get.
As of now, I'm rockin ?/45/13 on a 92 EG. I know pretty damn small (came with the car)... but I'm looking for new blackies that are 205/50/15. I also plan on lowering my car a little later on, not too much
205/50R15 would be a little tall, and may cause an issue if the car is dropped more than 1.5". Normally we'd recommend 195/50R15 to be closer to stock diameter.
Look at the Yokohama S.Drive or Dunlop Direzza DZ101 (in either size) for good tires that are relatively inexpensive

You don't need all season tires in SoCal.
I have the Yokohama S. Drives and they are probably the best "all weather" tire I've ever driven on here in GA. My all season NeoGens did worse in the snow than my Yokohama S. Drives, and the S. Drives are extremely sticky in the rain.
I'm 10 kinds of impressed with the yokohama S. Drive, I've put about 10,000 miles on them and 6 autocross events. Worlds better than all the other all seasons I've driven on. Especially in the rain, best wet traction of any tire I've ever had.
And I have s2000 calipers on my civic, so if I wanted to lock them up I could, and it takes some real effort in the rain.

you should never get Falkens for your daily-driver. falkens are good for track events. I rocked on 215/45/16 Azenis on my daily DC2 and their thread life are horrible!!! wet traction sucks, low grip, needs to be warmed up before doing any cornerings. but s. drive never gives me a problem. they are summer tires but performs excellent all damn season!!!!!!! thread life are way better, it has been about 12000 miles but still have clear pattern on the surface. wears are even. they are cheaper tha falkens too. 400 shipped to my door!

^ you guys are referring to the Azenis whcih IS falken but not all falkens are the same. Azenis is a low treadwear tire which means it will wear MUCH faster than an all season from Falken too.
Im looking for the same general idea here, except Im not really on a budget for once hah, Im thinking Nitto Neo Gens? I also need all season tires. 205/50/15, and also, I have a DC2 with the 205/50/15 fitment, Im lowered well over 2 inches and Im barely tucking. However you cannot go any wider on a DC2 without running into problems..
Do you have ice on the road for more than a week out of the year?
I liked my neo gens, but I can tell you first hand if you're buying an all season thinking they will be better than a summer tire on the ice you're tragically mistaken.
All season tires are not snow tires.
