Appraise my Honda?
I have a 90 Honda Civic HB DX. I am interested in another car but I would have to get enough out of this so I come to you for your opinion on its value.
Its Cosmetic Condition: 6/10
Paint is faded, Front fender dent. No rust crack in windshield, passangers side.
Interior: 7/10
Drivers seat is ripped, small crap on carpet. 2 New seat covers, all interior is intact and stock.
Engine: 8/10
New used d15 swapped in after cleaning. + New Distributer.
Bonus:
Has a full stereo system including, jvc Kamelion Reciever, 2 500watt amps, 2 pioneer speakers and 2 6" subs.
I have put close to 1500 into it, I wanted to ask 2000 obo in hopes of getting atleast 1600.
What do you think? Got fresh inspection till 10/12

Those are your ratings, they may not be the same as someone else. Kinda hard to do an appraisal without pics. That being said, this thread will get locked down for these reasons:
4. "What should I sell my CRX/Civic for?" or "How much is this CRX/Civic worth?" or "Is this a good deal/price?" "What would these parts be worth?
7. Threads with no technical information.

Anyhow...so advice from someone who buys and sells a lot of older, cheaper cars.
First....take the stereo out. I dont care how nice it is, you wont get 10 cents on the dollar for it from 90% of potential buyers. You are better off to pull it, put a $50 Wal-Mart CD player in, and Craigslist the quality stuff. If your buyer ends up being a 17 yr old kid, them maybe you can get some value out of it, but otherwise, it make little to no difference on what most people will pay you.
Second....based on your ratings, you have a low end driver. Assuming its mechanicly sound. It has a rough body and rough interior. Depending on where you live, it will need a windshield before it can be licensed. (In Missouri, "your" inspection means nothing....every new owner has to have the car inspected, and a cracked windshield is almost always a fail).
Third...how "used" is that "new" engine? Powerwashing a 125k mile motor doesnt make it new, it makes it clean. Do you have any paperwork to verify the mileage of the motor. If not, at best, you rbuyer is going to have to assume the worst...that it is at least a 100k mile motor, and thus, it adds nothing to the value of the car.
So, boil it down....I'd say you have a $1000 car, minus the audio. While the Hatch's have some niche following to add some value....what you really have is a 20+ year old econo-car, in driveable condition. And I flip those all the time in the 700-1000 range, and usually they are somewhat newer.

Suprised the toad hasn't locked this yet either. Lol

IBTL
But lets be realistic before it's gone
.
Minus 2 on all those because it's your car and you have sentimental attachment to it.
As a used car buyer, it's not in that great condition as you, the seller, think it is.
4/10
5/10
6/10
I would see the messed up exterior and interior and right off the bat assume the engine and tranny have been kept the same way.
I will assume it's going to need work just like the rest of the car.
Used car buyer wants a car, not a rolling ticket/theft magnet.
Used car buyer may not have your taste in audio equipment.
Better to remove all that and sell it on eBay.
Equipment is all used and assumed to be abused.
No telling how long it's going to last.
$800 total including the audio.
$900 if you remove the audio and polish up the interior and exterior.

I appericate the useful post, even though this is not aloud.
To make you all aware, I'm 16 this is my first car, I have no attatchment to it, so I did not sugar coat my ratings. The interior is good, just the carpet has dog hair and marks, and the drivers seat is ripped. The engine was bought second hand and was rebuilt. The area where I live goes by if the crack effects the drivers view so it is fine and the inspection last almost all year. As for the stereo the car in my area is #1 Stolen car because its so desirable amoung a certain ethnic group where they "Pimp" (Rice) the cars and tend to want the stereo. The stereo in the car is professional and the car itself is dynomatted. So does this change any ratings?

As for your interior. The driver seat bolster is a major issue with these cars, so much that finding an original driver seat that ISN'T torn is rare....and expensive. In your case, a set of seat covers will be fine, because if they are not original and pristine, then having a decent set of seat covers is just a s good (or bad). A better way of putting it is this: Unless the interior is a 10, consider it a 5. Clean it up as best you can, and it will be fine for what you have.
Exterior: No rust is a plus, but that has to mean NO RUST! Not just no visable rust. If all your panels, especially your quarters are solid, than you have something. Also, the trim is a big point on EF's. Is it all there? Is it all in good condition? Whats the rubber trim like? (Like whats around the windows) If thats not dryed out and brittle, thats another plus. But things like that are things only a Honda guy is going to appreciate. The dent, the faded paint, and the cracked windshield are the things that the other 90% of buyers are going to see, and those are all detractions in your case.
Engine: Again, if you have paperwork that verifies the engine was rebuilt. (Fully rebuilt...machined, new internals, sensors, ect) and not just powerwashed and painted, with maybe some new gaskets, than thats worth a lot to a potential "driver" buyer. For 90% of your potential buyers, reliabilty is going to be key. I sell a lot of "ugly" cars all the time because they are mechanicly sound.
And speaking of sound: Unless your buyer is a young guy like yourself, that system isn't a selling point. In fact, it can turn off a good portion of your lookers, because they don't want the liability of having that equipment attracting thieves. They also are going to assume that you have the value of the audio included in the price of the car, and if they don't want the audio, they are going to feel like they are paying for something they don't want.
TAKE IT OUT!
You can always let a buyer know it there if they want it. A buyer that wants it will wait for you to re-install it, or will install it themselves, but a buyer that doesn't want it, will not wait, or come back in a day or two to give you time to pull it. Car sales rule #1, don't let a buyer leave, they won't come back.
So.....the KBB value for your car (as close as I could get...had to use a 91), is about $1480. Deduct a couple hundred for it being a '90, and you are kinda around where we started at. You said you wanted $1600.....sell the car without the audio for $1200, and shoot for $400 for the audio. With gas prices high, econo-cars are an easy sell right now. You may even be able to get a little more depending very heavily on the "rebuilt" motor, and how it rides and drives.
