i will be repairing the door hinge on my del sol pretty soon and most likely the original tag will be destroyed by welding or cutting or else.
i could not find any info on how to obtain a new one with the correct vin number and bar code.
would a dealer be able to print one?

My CRX's is riveted in. '98 Civic's is a sticker.
I've heard people ask this before and the answer I've always seen was that it's not available. I think I even once asked a friend at the parts counter at Honda. He said they don't have those.
Might want to mask it off or make a replica in a sign shop or something. Not sure the employees at the store would like the idea of making a new one though. They might think you're trying to scam someone.

I know people have tried to get replacement dash VINs (which are all riveted on) and no one has had any luck.
You can try asking your dealership, but the guy I asked at Honda has been there for twenty years and he says it's not available.

when he pulls it off, it'll just have a bunch of "VOID"s running across it diagonally.

wont work. they are applied as security stickers.

A bit off topic, and I don't know it's origin, but while detailing cars a few years back I found a VIN sticker cut out of an Accord. Still have it... on it's metal backing. The car was silver. lol
vin tags or stickers can not be replaced by dealership. there is no oem replacement for a vin tag.
its a practice when replacing a quarter panel to cut the vin tag out of the sheetmetal to keep with the car. info needs to stay with car, color code, production date, curb weight/tire pressure and so on.
if your tag is damaged tape it off for paint. or it's your car you can take it off but you will lose that info. the choice is yours.
