Default Right turn signal comes on when braking

i have a 97 civic EX and recently ive had a problem where when i brake, the right turn signal light comes up on the dashboard. when i release the brake, it goes away. my right turn signal doesn't work if i'm braking. the weird thing is, this only happens sometimes. i was driving home from work and this was happening, then when i got about three minutes away from home the light stopped coming up. why is it doing this?

Maybe you have a short somewhere either that or its the cluster... just maybe try checking out the bulb and seeing if anyof them are blown

check the bulbs in the back...one of the filaments might be bad and it's touching the other contact in the bulb... which makes another light turn on...

Or the wrong bulb type is installed - it should be a double filament bulb.

so i looked into it a little more and the weird thing is that if i have my foot on the brake, my right turn signal will not come on, but it lights up in the dashboard. if i'm driving at night and i have my headlights on, my top right brake light does not work, but all three other brake lights do. i checked the bulbs and their fine. i'm not sure what to do here.

did you try switching the bulbs around? switch the bulbs around and see what happens. sometimes a bulb might look good, but doesn't mean it's working.

i replaced the bulbs and everything, still same problem. if my headlights are on, the right turn signal in the back is blinking but its super dim.
