since b16 alternator is like gold..i was told some other alternator will fit perfect. does anyone know which one fits perfect w/ 1st gen b16?

A 90-91 integra alternator will work just fine.

oh yeah..one thing i forgot to mention was that my rpm gauge is going all over the place (up down up down) when I gas it...what problem could it be?

it's not hard to make a single cam alternator work either just to let you know!. i have one on my ls.

 

either the connection on your igniter is bad or the igniter itself is bad. its a common problem on these motors.

 

this seems like my same problem.....if I have the hood poped (or driving) an I hit the gas it sounds like it boggs down an then it catches up again in a little while. It almost seems like it isnt sucking in enough air....you think I am having the same problem as jeff? thanks need some quick help

edit: my rpm gauge jumps up an down too....like up an down about 1000 from where it should be

Don't use a 90-91 LS alternator. They only put out 65 amps. I tried one on my b16 & kept getting the charge light when vtec was engaged.

I changed to a 94 GSR alternator, which puts out 90 amps & haven't had a problem since. The plugs are identical between obd0 & obd1 alternators, so no worries there.

Strange....since I'm driving w/a rebuilt LS 90-91 alternator from last winter...

Car is pulling strong all day.
Even with radio,lights,wiper and heater on....

 

jeff, keep me posted on what fixes it cause this sure is pissing me off

used a del sol one on there right now, but its at the shop getting looked at. After 6 month with no problems. I will find out what went wrong But the del sol one does fit. and worked.

 

sounds good, mabye I'll steal my brothers....he wrecked his sol last night...lol

 

yippers...i opened up the bo yesterday and notice one of the screw is all chewed up (thanks to whoever that try to mess w/ it before)..now i have to take it to a machine shop to drill that baby out. i'll let ya know

i've been using a junkyard 90-91 alternator, both on my old b16 and my b20 for about 9 months now..no probs.

 

dizzy's prolly all good just change the ignitor

 

well getting my car back tommarow. They found out that is was some bad wirring to the Alternator. (dont know how that could hav happened when all i did was plug the thing in) And the bolt was stripped. They got it fixed and i get to pick it up tommarow. Hopefully that is all that was wrong.

 

does that alternator use a lock washer?

 

alright...it's the distributor that's causing all this. not ignitor..time to buy a new one
