The tach works because the tach and speedo get their signals from two completely different places. Have you changed and gearing or drasticly changed tire/wheel size?

what i change was the whole cluster. i didnt change tire or wheel size. but what do you mean "changed and gearing"? i thought it would be "plug-n-play" but i guess not.

Is there a CEL? (check engine light)

i have a 94 Integra RS 2 door (B18B1) with no check engine light on. i also did not change anything on tranny or motor. i bought the cluster from someone on craigslist. i knew it was from an ls/rs dc2 because it redline at 6900 rpm and look exactly like any other cluster from ls/rs dc2. i try to reset the car by pulling out the negative on battery but that didnt work. any suggestion what else i can try? thanks HT

Read the title again "RPM works, speedometer doesn't.", rpm (as in tach) works. He is asking why his speedo is off, not about a non functioning tach.

His tach DOES WORK, it's the speedo that's off by 10mph. Drastically changing tire size, or gearing affects it.

My apologies, I somehow got very mixed up or mis-read.

I agree with what you are saying.
