I have a 91 CRX Si with a sohc non vtec zc (a6) with a bad head gasket. I plan on pulling the head off tonight to change the HG, but I am afraid that the head might be cracked or warped. I need this car for a daily driver, and 88-91 motors are getting hard to find around here, so my question is:

Can I safely run a y8 head on my zc(a6) block without wiring up vtec. It'll will be running on my pm6. I will eventually go the obd1-p28 route, but can I run it safely on the pm6 temporarily?

PS: I only run 91 octane

 

That's great - you are wasting your money...

You can do it, just do NOT drive hard... It's not advised whatsoever but that doesn't stop people from doing it all the time.

 

Thank you, and as for the 91, i've only ever drove b-series vtec until now. my b16 didn't like 87
