Default Where to start

Hi I just got a 96 Accord Sedan with the inline 4 VTEC and would like to do a little to it. I want to keep it pretty clean and add a bit more power to it. I'm new to this as this is my first car so any suggestions would be cool.

Welcome to honda-tech! If you are just looking for a bit more go and some response then i would start with the i/h/e (intake, header exhaust) this will free up power and make the car breathe alot better. This is probably where 90 percent of people start. How much money are you looking to spend?

I'm a student so currently I don't have much in the bank. I initially planned on only having this car until I made enough for something else seeing as I got the car for free from a family member.

Right now most things I can do will have to wait until summer when I can work.

Oh and thanks for the welcome!

i suggest going into the interweb thinger and doing research.. there is so many things you can do.. start fiddling around then come back and say what route you want to go.. also is it autotragic or manual?

but i say for now.. find a nice chipped ecu get a high flowing exhaust nice air intake with a nice filter do some weight reduction give her a little stance then call it a day..

Unfortunately it's automatic but can't complain when I got it for free. The problem is there is so much I can do which is why I'm having trouble deciding haha.

before you do anything, do a TUNE UP!!!!!!! change oil, spark plugs, clean intake runners and valves(with seafoam or a similar product), inspect timing belt have your vales adjusted all the little things first. not only will you gain some power you will significantly reduce your chance of a pricey "headache" down the road. not to mention your car will appreciate it

That sounds like a great idea haha. Especially seeing as the car is over 270k kms. I'm just starting to do some hands on stuff, I was proud when I replaced the high beam and middle brake light.
