found a crack on my turbo manifold yay!!!
LOL, my ramhorn manifold finally gave up lol, found a crack line around the welds on where the wastegate runner meets the collector. Whats the right way to go about fixing this crack line? Do I just put new welds over it or what do I do?
Here's something from another message board
I had a customer bring in a turbo manifold that had a crack in one of the runners. This will show step by step on how your properly fix a cracked weld.
Reason this manifold cracked is because the flange was warped and when it was bolted to the engine it put too much stress on the weld.
Cracked runner

1. Cut the cracked runner all the way around.

2. Bevel the two sides so you can get a deep penetration and good strong weld

3. Make a root pass weld, starting with the bottom of the runner. This will help keep the flange as flat as possible. Also notice the back purge hose, that will give you a nice weld on the outside as well as the inside.

4. Make the fill pass and let the manifold cool down while is still bolted to the welding plate so it will keep the flange as flat as possible.

This was a customers log manifold that was on a nissan. No name on it so I don't know who made it. Besides, that is not whats important.
