Default high flow cat question?

Will a non carb complaint high flow cat pass smog test in CA? I bought a non carb complaint regular cat and it passed smog two years ago, but the cat was cheap so it is clogged right now. Need to replace another one, and money is a bit tight. Any one know this?

Thanks

Why not try a pass or no pay smog station first, then go from there

Yeah, I am doing that first for sure, but since my cat is clogged, I am getting horrible gas mileage right now, and the car hesitate once awhile.

I've seen a 4th gen pass smog with no Cat here in IL. I guess it all depends on what emissions levels you have to meet and how cleanly your motor is running currently. Only way to find out is to try it would seem... Sorry I cant be of more help.

CARB standards are the strictest in the US. Maybe you ab pass with a non CARB catalyst....but is it worth buying 2 and paying to weld in 2 compared to doing it right the first time? Are you willing to keep buying cats every 2 years to pass emissions? or maybe just spend the extra money for one built to meet specs out there and last?

CARB standards are probably the most strict in CA. I did pass with a high flow cat. Like the other people have stated above, it all depends on how well your is running. Properly tuned, etc.

I know what you guys mean, rather getting the right one now and not having to waste money on every couple of years. Budget is very tight right now, cant afford it until I have a job lol. I did passed smog with this clogged cat. I just looking into something better than what I have since I am getting 19-20 mpg =(
