fell bad for him.
a few years ago i watched a 60yrd man slide his 911 off track and roll it down into a ditch (around 15ft deep). he didn't seem TOO pissed. just said, "good thing i have insurance."

AutoX = timed event = not insurance coverage. no way, no how.

actually....i have heard taht is is "driver improvement/defensive driving" insurance does cover it! but that was a rumor!
Holy ****! I was going to go to that autocross, but I couldn't make it because I was not a member. Was it the Silver Ford Focus? If its the one I think, wow she is a pretty good driver...
What color was the car? I met a guy at a Waterbury CT event who drove a dark blue Focus, and I think he attended Bristol events too. His name was Igor and was pretty cool, offered to have me drive his car after my master cylinder called it quits...

For what's it's worth, USAA dropped comprehensive and collision on ALL our vehicles after that claim. Now we pay comparable rates with a different company.

as far as pic go, i found only one, but of him at the starting line. i emailed the webmaster, as i am sure he has more, but perhaps does not want to post them. If anyone else knows anyone that was at the event taking pics, lemme know or post on up. again, poor kid....
sorry, i couldn't make it. wish i was there!
that parking lot they race in is very bad. bumpy as hell and the asphalt is very loose. it makes for unsafe conditions for auto-x.

(Raises Hand) 1Greyteg be ME,,,
Yeah that was pretty freaky,,, I've never seen a rollover at an Autocross event before and NEVER right in front of Me! Kinda unnerving to say the least.
I started out hard and made the first turn and off to the second where I was already in 3rd gear and just as I was braking hard and downshifting and negotiating the hard right, I glimpse this Focus off to my left and pass in the distance, Then I'm making alot of speed and coming into another turn which happened to be a tricky one, all I see is RED FLAG! The corner worker comes over and tells me that my run was stopped because a black focus has it's license plate upside down, I'm like WTF? he says look, and I follow his finger to see the Focus on it's roof and the crew helping the driver out of the car to the cheer of the crowd. So I got a free 1/2 speed run of the rest of the course.
Truthfully, That Sucked majorly for the driver of the Focus, I really felt for him and showed him the PIC of my Wrecked PY/ITR.
All in the all the day went well,,, and of course Rodney Won our class "SM" AGAIN!
Rodney; "Stay in Pro, so I have a chance man," I took 3rd after him and M. Daddio.
It was a good event otherwise and ran quickly and smoothely, we were done by 3:45 and home after an hour drive by 5:15. Traffic sucked but, the Weather was awesome.
See you guys next week at Nassau and the next at Orange county.
Limerock is coming FAST!!!!!!

Just to reiterate:
The FOCUS was totally stock and on AZENIS sports... And the COURSE while being bumpy "like many NE lots" and full of gravel "that got swept off" was very safe with alot of runoff and minimal turns that would initiate a roll.
The Focus guy even said to me "I've heard of and was warned about putting sticky tires on a stock car before, I just didn't think that the Azenis were THAT sticky!'
We must remember that although I and We feel bad for the Driver/Owner which totally sucks for ANYONE, that his wreck was totally driver error, AND that it happened through the finish and runoff.
Safety wise the event was all A's, the course was a highspeed run similar to a smaller NASA (Meadowlands) event that ran with battling high 38.'s and 39.'s on up... Nothing too tight, several offset gates and off camber turns and only 1 real slalom. The finish was tight but, not the tightest anyone had seen by far, "Not unsafe" And there were plenty of tristate officials there. As well CART ran the same course Last Week with No instances or injuries.

Honda Civic > Focus SVT
Azenis > TS-1
You really
cannot make those assumptions unless the same driver drove both cars to which you're making the comparisons.

Sorry but I think Ford makes shitty cars with exception of the F-150 lighting and Cobra Mustang.[Modified by Civic242, 8:30 PM 10/7/2002]
even the picky *** State Farm will cover Autox or HPDE accidents. Our local Club prez took out his Miata a few years ago, Sate Farm covered everything.
"Timed" events means door to door racing. One car in a open parking lot lined with cones is not a "timed" event.
Also current prez rolled his 68 Datsun about 4 years ago. He loved thatb roll bar that was not mandatory, it saved his life. Just got a few scratches on the helmet.
Cincy Sports Car Club, come have some fun.

Well considering that there were many driver instructed runs in the 3 focus SVTs at the last Auto-X and none of those runs were faster them my last run time gives me the right to say that. At the end of the day it's a question of who's in 1st place, this past sunday in STS class I was.

Sorry, but i get annoyed with novices that are like, "i beat the evolution instructor in my own car"... The EVO driver was driving 80% and was trying to teach you to become a better driver, not to teach you to inflate your ego.
With that said, i rode in a SVT as a novice instructor this past weekend, and i think the car is pretty nice. Not sure if Ford fixed that rear suspension though. thats why they are prone to roll. Brad Lockhart, trophied at Nats this year, rolled a zx3 a couple years ago, and was trying to get ford to fix the faulty rear geometry.
That Focus comment from the guy with the Civic DX was pretty dumb.
I was at the event in my Chevy Cavalier, and ya know what, I beat an Integra in the street tire class ( cart doesnt run ST classes), I was in FSP. Know what else, I'm pretty sure I beat the Viper on at least one run too.
It's all in the driver, Hell the silver focus was running 42 second runs with a "pro" driver. This is with a 100% stock motor.
No it wasnt the silver Focus. The silver one is set up MUCH differently than than the black one that went over. Black was all stock except for the tires. I dont know if he enven had enough pressure in them.
The silver car has Progress Springs, Eibach swaybars, V700's up front and street tires out back, it'll drift like an old Toyota.
