tranny replacement
as the title says, im replacing my tranny..
i wana do it right and everything too. what all seals do i need to replace on the tranny? and if someone might be able to point me to a guide or somethin for it. im not too big on transmissions.
oh and im planning on getting honda MTF or GM Syncromesh, how much should i need for the fresh tranny? 2bottles of honda MTF? is what ive read.

Honda transmissions such as the b series(cable style) call for motor oil as odd as it seems I believe 10 30, but not positive on that though it will be in a Haynes. Also just to let you know more information would be needed as far as engine transmission and year so that someone will be able to better direct you.....
You aren't doing anything that a simple repair manual couldn't help you with. Look at the transmission - there is only 3 seals to replace... Output seals and the Shift Rod seal. Unless you really want to tear apart the entire transmission - then the Input Shaft seal.
Do yourself a favor and ONLY use Honda MTF...
Everything else is speculation as you gave NO information for specifics.

ditto. Stick with the Honda MTF. As for the seals, when I did mine it allready came with seals in it. So I just had to remove the old and put on the new. When removing the tranny don't forget to remove the starter bolts!!! I did lol. And have fun with the bitch pin. It's gonna drive you crazy.
this change will be easier then my last. last time we didnt remove the motor just dropd the tranny / back and front mounts and angeld the motor. im pullin the motor out this time.
ive heard GM syncromesh is actualy better for older trannys then honda MTF. and i got a 91 civic. tranny i got was supposedly from a 91 si also but im not 100% sure on that. but it is a cable d series so.. ef/crx
sorry i didnt specify my tranny better. didnt think about it seeing as im in the crx / ef thread but i know alot of people swap hydro trannys and b series into em too.

there are only 4 oil seals - the differential seals (2) where the axles go in, the shift rod seal and the input shaft (mainshaft) seal - you can replace the axle and shift rod seals from the outside - you need to disassemble the transmission to replace the input shaft seal
