ok I know that there is alot of info on the swap but on the si cluster. my issue is I have a mint 1990 cluster with tachometer I want to install in my 1989. This cluster is NOT an si cluster, and the pin out is allot different from my 89 with NO tachometer. I also have the cluster harness from the 90 but 1 of the 3 plugs will not match. my Q is will it be better to repin the stock harness (if possible some pins would need to be moved to the other side of the cluster) or just re wire the last clip on the 90 harness if possible. 90 has allot more pins and I do not have a way to tell what wire goes where.

 

The reason it's so different is you should be using an '88-89 cluster... It doesn't matter if the cluster has a tachometer or not because they are all wired for it. You will have to use the '90-91 bezel (cluster hood) for it to fit as well... There are write-ups on this.

 

yes I know about the cluster covers and I got this cluster for free. Is there any way I can use it? if not I will see if its possible to repin.
