Default my head hurts - need alarm OFF

Helping my teen son yesterday change out the thermostat on his 97 v6 accord and we had to disconnect the battery for access. When we reconnected the battery, the security system came to life and we don't have the original key or remote to disable it, so it is sounding every time we open the door or pop the hood. What can we do to shut the darn thing off for good?

See if this thread will help you for resetting the alarm.

If not, on some Honda factory security system, IIRC, turning the key in the driver's side door lock will disarm it too; I don't remember the exact sequence and for which years it was applicable. If you find the control unit, you can disable it there.

Thanks for the lead - I sent my boy to the honda dealer this morning to pick up a new master key. My neighbors will certainly appreciate our getting this resolved...Then we can get our focus back on resolving the bigger issue of his coolant leak
